Just purchased a fresh 12W Disciple in Green with the Bronze StingRay wrap.
It is exactly what I was looking for in a blade. I love the emitter shape and all. IT's insanely loud, my neighbors can hear the activation sounds which is awesome.

Going to post some night photos I shot with my girl shortly, just was so excited and couldn't wait to throw something up on the forum :D

I have to say as my 1st saber I'm very happy with my selection. I wanted to go with a saber that looked like it's been through some hell and I got what I wanted. My only issue is the blade doesn't light up evenly all the way to the tip, but I'll find a workaround for that. I mostly just enjoy staring at the hilt itself anyway.

Looks great!

Have you fully charged it? That may help the blade issue.

You may also want to consider an eventual 12W+ upgrade - every picture I've seen of them make the blades look very even.

Thank You!!! I'm so excited haha

Yeah I fully charged it right away. Not much of a difference but you can barely notice it. I think the only reason I did is because I've heard other people say they've noticed that. But everyone of my friends, coworkers, family members who've seen it don't notice it at all.

But who would? They are gorgeous sabers!!

So I can buy a higher wattage and that will help it illuminate better? I thought it was more about lumens rather than wattage

Thanks again!

It's not a higher wattage, the LEDs are packed closer together to create a narrower beam. This helps the blade appear more evenly lit. Definitely worth it!

From the FAQ: "Our current 12w LED is made with four CREE XB-D dies, our new LED array uses four CREE XQ-E dies. The new dies are smaller and sit closer together under the focusing lens, this produces less base flair and a much brighter and more evenly lit blade."

Nice! I didn't even see that. I'll have to check that out.

I'm pretty new so I'm unaware, but do I have the ability to swap colors if I pop out my LED bulb?
Not sure if its possible on the apprentice models or not.

Thanks for your insight that's great to know

No problem! Definitely check out the FAQ, it's a wealth of info ;)

Did you order quick connects for your saber? If so, you can easily swap out the LED module for another color. If not, you could do it yourself (which requires some electrical skill and voids the warranty) or send it back to Saberforge and have them swap it out or put in quick connects.

I definitely ordered quick connects because it was such a cheap add on I thought why not? haha

Here are some more pics I took of the saber

The 12W+ modules are like 20-30% brighter or something like that in lumens output and the beam is far more even, way less base flare. Check out a couple of my reviews on the arbiter, destiny, or reborn. They're all 12W+ modules and the blades are super even to the eye. =D

Another option that helps a little (tho not too much, honestly, as its the base flare that causes that issue) is getting a thin-walled blade from like TCSS. But I wouldn't advise dueling with thin walls, they break easier. :)

Hey Mr. Synergy

I noticed that when you go to the accessories section to purchase 12W led units it states they are XB-D
not the newer XQ-E units you mentioned and that I see from the FAQs section.

Am I correct in assuming you can't buy the newer one's separately? You have to order a saber that comes with the XQ-E unit?

When building a new saber I don't even see an option between the two so I'm guessing newer sabers come with it automatically. I ordered my Disciple June 3rd, 2015 so I think that's why I missed the newer LED Unit.

Definitely looking to upgrade for that even looking illumination without base flare.

Unfortunately, the 12W+ (XQ-E) are not available "publicly" yet. They will roll out when the ASP system launches this fall/winter and become available as an upgrade option at that time. However you can special request sabers with this option now for an extra $25, though I'm not sure if you can order the LED by itself. I don't see why not, but that might be a question for SF directly. Hope this helps!

Sounds good to me thanks man!
I heard the US blade helps a lot with illumination but I really want the durability of the SF blades.
It seems to hold its own way more efficiently than the US blades do.
