Like Kered, my favourite is the Serenity from Firefly

But I think the Arcadia will rule them all in a battle, Enterprise, Normandy, star destroyers... all :)

This is such an evil topic for me... so many to pick from i cant decide...

Starwars related i really like the small super manuverable fighters.

The Delta series jedi starfighters, Eta-2 series fighters, A-wings, Tie Interceptors, and the Tie Phantom.

Some of my fav non starwars ships are the Whitestar and shadows from Babylon 5. And the macross fighters.

What I like in Macross is the "we have to reconfigure the ship into a robot so the gun works!" I think it was all a lie--the chief engineer (Emil Lang in Robotech, I don't know his Macross counterpart's name) just really wanted to cruise space in a big freaking robot.

The thing I like about Macross (more or less across the entire franchise, from what I've seen) is that they don't BS with their transformable mecha. I mean, yes, they still require technology that is somewhere between "well beyond current science" and "outright bloody impossible", but you don't seem to see parts moving through each other or detaching entirely and moving somewhere else. For example, you can take one of the Valkyrie/Veritech toys and match the motions made on the screen, even with a toy's relatively simple arrangement of pivots. Compare that to, say, Genesis Climber MOSPEADA (aka Robotech's The New Generation) and its tires that somehow end up on the other side of the bike and no longer touching anything they were previously touching.

Least favorite ship? The All Good Things... future Enterprise-D. Ugh. What a way to mangle a beautiful ship.
Yoda of Borg am I! Assimilated shall you be! Futile resistance is, hmm?

Hi all,

With the talk about transforming spacecraft I couldn't help but think of Spaceball One (Sorry) and the Vacuum Cleaner but I looked for some pics and found this. You wanted to discuss Influences here is a great example:

Just thought it was interesting,

The whitestar was truly a thing of beauty :woohoo:

As for ST I will say the Defiant, because it was a tiny power house and a Federation ship with cloak. It was made strictly for war a first for Star Fleet and could stand even with the Enterprise itself.

The serenity being my fave impression of SW and the Falcon B)

The Biggest Baddest SWs Ship ever!!! The Imperium-class Ultra Star Destroyer. 260km long, made to travel to other galaxies and bring the full might and Production of the Empire. The Executor is on the pic as well to give you an idea how big this monster is B) Also the Chiss Clawcraft, it was a great fighter

First designed by Matt Jefferies in 1964, the original Constitution Class U.S.S Enterprise was such a departure from the cigar-shaped, or saucer shaped ships that had been the mainstay of Sci-fi since the days of the original Buck Rodgers, and Flash Gordon comics of the 30s and 40s. A testament to the genius that Gene Roddenberry was fortunate enough to tap into, which made the show and enduring classic which is about to celebrate it's 50th anniversary, and will soon debut another series to carry on the legacy!

It captured my imagination from the first time I saw it, and inspired the design of many ships not only in the Star Trek universe, but others as well.

@Brax You aren't wrong on the initial Enterprises' influence on sci/fi. Especially on ships the sheer Originality and every race have a very distinctive look to their ships, makes up for what I say next Though I always liked DS9 as the best of those shows. I am somewhat frustrated by trekies who act as if Gene invented sci/fi as he gets credit for things that were in books long before. That said SW may never have had a chance to start without it. Also they always make a huge deal out of the Prime Directive and then Shatter it. lol. Or the Heisenberg compensator to make transporters work. It compensates for atoms always being in motion, lol. Always thought ST was fantasy almost as much as SW. Space elves = Vulcans/Romulans, Tall Dwarfs= Klingongs and Q= Loki. lol  I love damn near all sci/fi and fantasy and will maintain the Defiant could take out a Galaxy class Starship. lol

Gene was not the singular genius behind Trek. He was the visionary who recognized the kinds of talent, and the people who possessed that talent, to make his vision a reality. Many people are responsible for all that Trek was, and became, but he was the catalyst that started it moving.

And, for the record I think Deep Space Nine is the most underrated of all the Trek series. I enjoyed it immensely! The other one that I think gets a bum deal is Enterprise. That show had such promise, and in seasons 3 and 4 was really beginning to come into its own, just as TNG, and DS9 did at that point in their run. I am not sure what the real story is to why it was cut off when the best stories were still left to tell, or why they left the air with one of the WORST series finales ever when all the episodes of that season till then were fantastic. But, it is all history now, and we still have new Trek (outside of the movies) to look forward to.

@ Brax, well you and I saying we like ST means if we run into most here at a duel, it may get intense. lol. Enterprise got a raw deal and Scott Bakula who played "Archer", was genuinely hurt by the last episode. It is typical for the CW at that time. Or was it UPN then? Still loved when SIsko punched Q

I don't fear reprisal, because there is room in my heart for two sci-fi loves, and they are equal. I will demonstrate this as I post my favorite Star Wars ship, paying equal homage to the likes of George Lucas, Ralph McQuarrie, Ben Burtt, and John Dystra. The visionary, and the talent he saw fit to help him realize the masterstroke that was Star Wars. Not Star Wars: A New Hope. Just Star Wars.

Behold, the Incom T-65 X-Wing Fighter
