Whew ... and congratulations! Does it ever get easier to make a final decision. Even later adding on simple personal customizations can make a difference. What color of blade are you choosing? :silly:

I know it's a little different, but does anyone know if Saber Forge charges extra for brass-ish designs like this?

I'm pretty sure this is from Saber Forge's Etsy site.

Few things:

First, if you're looking for something "you" it doesn't seem like a hilt inspired by someone elses saber from a movie is the direction to go. (Just sayin')

Second, if there is a hilt that just jumps out at you and says "BAM! I'M AWESOME!" there are a number of ways you can customize it if you have the tools. I usually see custom work done to TCSS hilts rather than SF hilts but it can still be done.
As you've already heard, SF will offer some customization to their hilt designs. Depending on the work being done, they may or may not charge extra.

I'd say just pick your favorite hilt. If there is anything about it that you don't like, think about what you would do to fix it. Then figure out if it's something you or SF could fix.

As for blade length and color, that all just depends on your fighting style and personal preference.

Sorry if that's not entirely helpful. =P

@Naast,

If it's brass powdercoating you're after, I would guess there would be a price to pay for it. If it's actually brass pieces you're looking for, like switches, covertec wheels, kill switches, greeblies or whatever, it almost certainly would cost extra. Brass is more expensive than aluminum.
This is speculation, though. Your best solution is to email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with a more specific question on exactly what you want and see if they will charge extra.

I didn't mean on that saber, I just meant with similar designs. I was hoping to see about getting brass designs on a Grand Master, Reliant, or Sinister Prophecy (not sure if those are inspired by canon sabers). I don't really have the tools to do any personal customization.

One thing you can have them do is customize the black anodizing. For example, someone requested the standard version of the Epoch with some additional black anodizing, and I think it turned out incredibly cool:

This is one way to get a unique look to your saber.
That is beautiful. Did it cost extra? If I ask SF for that, could they do it again?

Yes it is beautiful! I don't know if it cost extra, but probably not because the first step in weathering any saber is to anodize the whole thing and then peel away at it, and they don't charge extra for weathering so I can't imagine they would charge extra for half of the weathering process. And I'm pretty sure another customer already had them do the same design, so there's nothing to suggest that they couldn't do it for you too :)

Awesome to hear! Debating between the Guardian and the Sinister Prophecy now!

@Dauntless 7 Weirdly enough, it clicked on me what i wanted yesterday and i drew it up. I sent it to SF to see if its possible. Its really just combining the Reliant and Venomous Fury, but I know they are prob swamped right now.

As for blade color? Amber all the way. Before joining this forum I thought I was gonna be one cool cat with a rare amber blade.......and then I see lots of people have em! Late to the party I suppose!

@Miraluka Totally agree about looking for something "me". Alot of the designs on here look fantastic! Many of them spoke to me even. So I took my two favorite two and made something me. We shall see what happens! :)

That's what I did. At first I was considering the Fury but I wanted claws and a simple grip. Ended up seeing if a resilient could be customized to what I had in mind. And thankfully it was doable. Now I'll have a lightsaber more designed with what I like in mind. And with a 12w amber blade ;) Always been my favorite color. Though as a little kid, I saw 'sun swords' before lightsabers with gold/yellow beams.
