TOPIC: Champion Mercenary Yellow

Hi all,
this is a review of my new Mercenary I ordered via Etsy. It is my first SF saber, but I own and use a few US sabers, so I'm not new to this kind of stuff.
Just to give you some context - being a coach for HEMA and Sabercombat, I own and use quite a lot of different weapons and have a "usability first" approach to them. Looks rank behind that.

But let's get to the looks first - it's easier to show anyhow.









Simply said: Great workmanship. I wouldn't recommend fighting (or spinning) without gloves, though. The edges feel a bit sharp on bare skin.
The design is a bit of a "classical mashup" - that's what caught me in the first place.

But I bought this to use it, not just to hang on my belt.



The 12W LEDs are really bright. There are some colours that I think are a bit underrated - like yellow.
I've got Sabercore Crimson on it and the sound complements the saber perfectly. Playing with the setting, a bit of pulsing just tips it off.

Looks great with a darker Jedi-outfit ...


But, as I said, the real important part is how it handles in dueling. The balance is not for everyone, I have to say. It lends itself perfectly for changing between one and two handed fighting, but works best when in constant motion. I just had one duel with it by now, but to show you the thing in action (my opponent is using a US Consular with a SF Dayblade, just for the record):



One thing to add: nothing is rattling or feeling loose by now.

Great of you to get around with Posting your Review, Thank You. Yellow is an extraordinary colour that is often under appreciated. The newer ratio mix has definitely made it more favourable in my book to its previous setup. Congratulations!

Damn that is nice! I haven't paid much attention to the Mercenary since it released but I feel I need to now. And yellow looks great with it. Very nice.

How does the yellow look and mix in real life? It looks awesome from the pics. Looks like a real solid looking color.

It's a warm yellow, like autumn sunlight. Dimming towards the tip is marginal.
