I've seen a few variations on it. Quick Google searches will give some good, albeit complex, ideas like this one:
http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=218890

Simple design could just take a clear tube and cap it with a couple metal inserts around the same inner diameter with a crystal glued between. I saw someone using part of an air compressor or something like that as the crystal base. Assuming you can get one that fits the blade shaft, that would be a quick option.

Hi All,

One possible idea is to get two ASP blade plug 5 and use the caps off of them to seat the crystal in-between (inside a short piece of blade stock as Heliolord suggests). Blade plug 5 has what looks to be a perfectly shaped socket to sandwich the crystal between. As it is a blade plug cap there will be holes to allow some light through it already. Then at one end of this capsule you will have created, attach something like a cog or Covertech Wheel sanded to size (
I think one of OvrcAHst's crystal chamber sabers used a similar part as the crystal mount. Not sure if he still has it but I'm sure you could ask him for an opinion.

kind regards,

For Tyeth
(P.S. You could recycle the unused blade plug tubing for other chambers or plugs)

Here's my attempt:

1" thick wall blade stock
copper 1/2" x 3/8" reducer
quartz crystal
light blue color disc as an endcap
lots and lots of hot glue (reducer is filled with it)

And with -2 Exposure Value:

Pretty cool how the blue and green dies in the Arctic Blue light up different parts of it.

The reducer was a lot looser in the blade stock than I though it would be, which is why I used so much hot glue lol. Was the best fit I could find in the sloppy bins at Home Depot.

@ KelbornX. Cool! Your end product looks really good in the saber.

@ For Tyeth, yes this is the same idea I have kicking around in my head. I wonder how hard it is to remove those blade plug end caps from the blade stock? I was also thinking of drilling a small hole in the center of the bottom one to allow more light to the crystal. Andusi gclear blade stock. Maybe even cutting some vents in the blade stock. In my mind, it would look bad@zz in a windowed emitter.

Hi Wolfsaber,

A friend of the forum, called Nebosa created some awesome blade plugs and I sort of used his idea and thought of having two caps, one each end to form the capsule. Nebosa said that it is fairly easy to pop the decorative caps off the plugs. You can check his thread out here:

Nebosa's I Did A Thing Thread

I wasn't sure if you wanted an exposed crystal as KelbornX posted (thanks KelbornX), but as you mentioned "chamber" I thought you meant a capsule type plug for a windowed emitter. I imagined using a similar plug/capsule in my For Tyeth Emitter/Pommel ASP designs (you can find a few of those in the Themed Hilt and Hilt Design threads if you're interested).

The idea of drilling the hole in the bottom cap is good. I look forward to see what you finally build.

kind regards,

For Tyeth

Not exactly the same thing but:

This is a scratch built crystal chamber, fully functional. But it's made with 1" OD parts so it fits inside the emitter socket. This one has a LED heatsink and housing sitting on top.

Might give you some ideas to incorporate into an unlit plug style chamber.

Awesome! I have the crystals ordered. Just need to order some blade plugs.
The only snag I see with the asp blade plugs is that I plan on building an asp saber with the vengeance emitter. From what I can surmise, all the asp plugs except #4 have a lip and will not fit inside the saber u unless I file them down? Can anyone confirm?

That is correct. Any emitter that is not flat will have that issue. The lip on those isn't that big though and is easily ground off.

Hi Wolfsaber,

From my understanding that's correct you would need to sand/file down the lip on the plug caps, however now I know you are using the Vengeance emitter, you may be better off trying the style of plug KelbornX posted. I say this as the windows on the Vengeance are more like slits, whereas the Venom, Viper or Epoch emitters have larger windows where the crystal would be more visible. Whatever your choice is good luck with the build.

It will mostly be a display piece. I'm wanting to make it so it looks like a workable crystal chamber, yet also be able to use it as a blade plug.

You may be looking at something like these...

Taken from here, SF Customs.. and the price if done through SF Customs found here.

Which is essentially something used on Descent of the Crystal Sabers.

The alternative as a DIY is to use either a covertech wheel or LED heatsink as the crystal housings and thread some brass rods into the holes on the circumference of the covertech's. ;)

I built this one out of some blade plug parts, some music wire, and a brass furniture fitting. It originally started as just a crystal glued between two blade plug pieces, which looked really good for being so simple, but I keep making modifications to it as I get more confident with my crafting skills.
