@Eddlyss64.. At worst she says no. You smile say ok, be polite and dignified "even if your acting" the other girls will hear about that and it will help. I wont lie, HS was easy for me, I was in home school for most of it. That said, we have all been denied. It hurts like hell, but hols it in till your home alone. If she says yes your going to feel like a fool posting all this. lol. You'll be fine, confidence not arrogance. Be aware that you may walk that line, but do not cross it
@OvrcAHst.. Not where I'm from, just a spring formal for all practical purposes. The year I went the junirs had a seperate dance at the school, we were at the world trade center in dallas. I think it was 18 years ago |

I kind of object to Prom and similar high school dances on principle.
It's such a gauntlet of social acceptance and rejection and when you're that hormonal anyway, for an authority to enforce a peer pressure social combat arena just seems like a prototype for the Hunger Games! The wealthy and popular enjoy it, the poor or socially awkward make the best of it if they can. If you don't have the money and/or the confidence to "do" prom "properly", well I dread to think what happens to some poor kids. I didn't turn up to my dance. I never regretted it. |

High school must be way different now. If I tried something like this in front of the whole school I wouldn't have been touching a girl for a longgggg time.

Hell my senior prom wasn't too long ago (2011), and this whole prom proposal thing seems completely foreign to me. I think I remember one kid bringing flowers to ask his date during lunch once, but that was it.
One guy I went to school with worked for a tux rental place in town, and he would wear a different one to school everyday the week before prom as an advertisement, and in exchange his work would give him coupons to hand out for super cheap rentals, and every guy in school would get theirs from there (5 fast pennies vs 1 slow nickel principle). |

When I was in high school, we had a Junior and a Senior Prom, but that was more than a few years ago. No idea if things have changed, and I would expect it varies a fair bit from school to school.

Probably also depends on the size of the school. Mine had a single prom for Juniors and Seniors (but sophomores and freshmen could be brought as dates), and we had a little under 800 students total my senior year. Another high school in town had 900 freshmen, and had a whole separate building just for them.

My school rule is that as long as the junior or senior agrees as your date, you're set. You should be fine as long as they accept! |

This is so interesting. I do stuff like this in front of the school in order to get elected for positions, prom court, promposal, etc., but it was certainly different back then. Part of it might be that I'm sorta considered popular, and I've brought my own tastes and encouraged others to freely express themselves. I'm sure other schools can be less accepting of others, which is unfortunate. |

It looks quite intricately planned, staged and prepared. Credit to you with your organisational skill set and for representing. Is Event Planning a possible career cue? Wish you success with delivery equal to the execution you have choreographed. Uncertain of your budgeting expense, for dramatic effect to simulate LightSabers (in addition to the actual Sabers you propose) are Air Dancers an option? Thanks! I'm not sure I'll be able to get admin slide me by on Air Dancers HAHA that's a great idea though! I've considered event planning, but I'm currently applying for colleges under a physics major until I figure out what suits my creativity. |

It's still like that for many, but promposals have really seen a rise in theatricality since the rise of social media (and possibly an inflation of superficiality?). |
