I'm watching a few youtube review vids and one bastion reviewer commented how there was a 3rd blade and 2 battery chargers missing from his order. He contacted customer support and they asked for his unboxing video as proof. So I figured i'd ask the forum if it's recommended to create unboxing videos/pics?

Thanks

Doesn't hurt. It's a good way to do a review, too.

Yes, how else can you validate a claim. My orders have always been missing something. In the current state of SaberForge's rebirth, it's apparent their attempt to meet orders, has affected their quality control in the shipping department. I suppose it would be difficult to babysit new employees, and be sure that they get it right. They have so much going on that their efforts in this area are similar to throwing candy off a parade float. I wish they would just slow down and get it right the first time, but I guess all the wait time bickering has caused an unavoidable panic in production and shipping. It's unfortunate that the consumer has to cover his own ass, but until SF can break this wild mustang they've captured, then an unboxing video is your only proof.

Still a pretty low margin for error given the numbers they reported shipping weekly.

True, but for the people that have ants in their pants, and are so anxious to receive their saber, it can be the catalyst for unhappy customers. Then followed up by a rant video, and possibly banned or excluded from their ability to give criticism. One unhappy customer can sway the minds up potential customers. BoostiniIX I get what you mean by the numbers, but do we as customers know the actual return figures or complaints. I feel the frustration of some people and there expectations.

Doesn't hurt, as already mentioned.

Luckily so far, I have always received all my items ordered per parcel.

As a viewer of unboxing video reviews however, I tend to skip the actual unboxing part because it tends to be boring.

It is one of the most popular ways of making a lightsaber review. I, however, prefer to wait until I've had the chance to manipulate and wield the saber a bit before giving a review, since this kind of thing can change pretty quickly. Plus, I only do "written" reviews.

I say it doesn't hurt to do one to be on the safe side. As for my own experience, i send in both my hilt and blade for repair with a RMA form indicating issues with the hilt and blade. I already gotten the acknowledgement to send both in. When I got my hilt back it was missing the blade. I quickly emailed customer service. They send a reply saying record show i received it already. I was a bit piss and luckily i kept the shipping box that came with my hilt only and send a message with a photo saying, "You think a 37in blade will fit into this small box that barely fit my hilt?" Within 1 hour got a reply back saying, "oh we make a mistake on the tracking, it is on its way already." I looked up the tracking and it was done within the same hour. Needless to say i got my blade so it's all gravy.

If people wonder why i send in my blade. It had several noticeable light circle patches at different areas. That's from day one without hitting anything as seen in the pic.

Same here. There are only so many times you can watch "the kids open their christmas presents" before it gets boring. I plan on doing the same, a written review with lots of pics.

Once I did an unboxing video (ONCE), and on the video I was fucking happy with my saber. HOWEVER, a few weeks later, my opinion started to change rather quickly. To make it short, the saber was total shit. I then made a second review, a written one, about the saber. All this to say: I wait to know what I'm talking about before going all AWWWWWW on my saber!

DR what changed a few weeks later? Was it a malfunction or you just changed opinion of the saber after dueling or something? Jus curious...

A lot of malfunctions, company refused to respect their warranty policy, etc.

Im so sick of unboxing videos but they are great for dealing with customer service and missing items. I plan on doing an unboxing video just for that reason and not try to post or market it. Then ill wait at least a week to do a full review after some of the shiny and "its finally here glee" wares off.

I think, a review video is more important. Of course when you open the box and see it you will be happy. However I feel like a review 2-4 weeks after you get it would be best. That way you can see how durable it is, and how it does against overall wear and tear. Just my opinion.

What if you open the box, and things are missing? As for "Missing" the point of this topic was about backing up a claim of unshipped product. I'm not all that confident
a review video would be much help. IMO

Yeah probably wouldn't be that helpful. Pictures would be enough in this kind of situation.

An unboxing video generally serves more of a personal insurance in the event that a company thinks you're trying to pull a quick one over them and get a free item. It's also a more solid form of proof over pictures simply because you start with the packaged barely received, transition to removing the tape/packaging, then to discovering your newfound item or lack thereof, and then be able to present the smoking gun to CS the problem (if any) that's very, very difficult to refute... all done smoothly with little-to-no cuts that could suggest movie magic was used.

Pictures, on the other hand, are simpler to work with and to handle. You could snap a few and immediately send them to CS for review of your problem/situation.

As for sharing it like a review... It's going to be more of a review on how the company packages their items, which can be great for people who live in certain areas/regions and may have some particular issue with their local package delivery system, OR if customers want to know what the package will look like and its size if they intend to pick it up or whatnot.

Personally, the most useful unboxing videos answer the questions:
1) What does the package look like?
2) How well protected is the item inside the package, and with what (packing peanuts, scrunched paper...)?
3) What is everything that comes in the package?

Anything else after that is generally additional information that may or may not be needed for an unboxing video. Unless its entertainment ;)

Good points, Fdesa12. I watched an unboxing video just yesterday of someone's katano saber and he had an issue where one of the detail knobs fell off and was poorly glued in place. He also had a problem with the blade plug being stuck.

I just checked the tracking and my venomous fury should arrive today. I think i'll make a video for CYA purposes but will just take pics for a review to post here.

Mind if I ask when you ordered?
