I just received my prodigal son in the mail today. It's very impressive. My only slight criticism is that it seems a hair too long compared to the scale model used in the movie. Maybe a half inch or so. Anyone notice this?

A variation of approximately half inch seems insignificant. Congratulations on successful delivery of (now yours) Iconic Prodigal Son. Don't forget to Post a Review with pictures in the Review section. With reference to the FAQs on Main Site:The PS is not a replica modelled to scale. It is an appropriation 'modelled after' Luke SkyWalker in ROTJ. It's important not to confuse the two.

It might depend on what you're comparing to. If you've got an official replica on-hand, some of the 1:1 Luke hilts on the market are actually *undersized*, since they're based on an old resin cast, and resin shrinks a bit as it cures.
That said, it's entirely possible the SF hilt is a bit long. I've not handled one or taken tight measurements. It does, however, seem to have the appropriate 1.5" outer diameter, since I've seen folks modify the activation section to take a Graflex clamp. |
