Also on a side note, you could always create a back-story to your saber as well, which explains it's dual tone... Being that the saber is primarily gripped in the center, it's coloring has changed due to the natural oils on the hands of it's owner while the ends represent it's original color as weathered over time.

I wonder if this will be a common problem with ASP not just weathered parts but all anodized parts? Not sure what anodizing method they use but these seem like two totally different finishes a gun metal blue and black to me... I don't understand their stripping/weathering process though and I suppose that might explain it but I'd say figure out a more consistent method if nothing else. At that price people expect what they see in the pictures and I've never seen a saber this two toned unintentionally.

At any rate good to know to avoid the weathering process if this is a concern to any potential buyers who would be fussed with these results.

Like Knytiri pointed put it's not the anodizing that does this but the stripping process. Heat and the chemicals being used create disparate effects.
i would only argue that they should have some kind of disclaimer on the etsy sight saying things like this about the weathering. Honestly, i just expect what i see in the picture when i'm ordering it, although they are all unique, i think they should make things like this a little more clear.
This is why I typically order dual-tone. I'm digging the look of the weathered Bane but I'm hesitant to order until I've seen a sampling of several so I have a better idea of what I might get.

actually I think I would prefer the each piece to have a slightly different tone as it would contrast better on the bane rather than look all uniform through out. If you look at the picture the on the example weathered bane the em miter and pommel are slightly darker than the body and I actually prefer it that way otherwise it would look too mono-tone.

I'm sorry to hear you don't like the multiple colours in the weathering. I went the weathered route because I like that used and abused look. The blue/black combination really gave it that repaired feel, mixing and matching of parts lent to the authenticity. I was even happy to overlook some dings in the metal (and am considering adding a few more of my own lol) as the intention was after all, to be used looking. Understanding the weathering process might help you be a little more forgiving.

Don't let it lead to buyers remorse! I've got a Sorcerer staff that sits collecting dust because of a number of surprises I did not feel I should have been subjected to. There's nothing wrong with the sabers per se, but that bitterness lingers still...

Personally, I think yours is a beautiful saber! Fire it up and post a pic in it's fully lit glory!

Shitty man. I'd feel chapped too.
All I can suggest is check out a couple weathering techniques on youtube. Use some different kinds of fine grit sand paper and maybe throw your own weathering over top to disguise it so it appears "as one".

Excellent idea, make it unique! I've really enjoyed changing one of my Consulars. Taking off the factory weathering, adding some coloured weathering of my own so now my saber has a little back story about the time the pommel took a blaster bolt and the only replacement part was red... :P Thinking of putting the Dremel to work on it soon!
