If you're more of a book guy, Tarkin and Lords of the Sith were both fantastic books. Aftermath was okay but a lot of people give it flak for the style and some more "kiddy" elements. New Dawn was great and reads like a long episode of Rebels. Heir to the Jedi was okay, I liked the style most as kind of a POV from Luke between Episodes IV and V. I've heard Dark Disciple is very good but I want to finish Clone Wars before I read it.

In terms of comics, so far Star Wars and Vader have been very good. At this point it may be more worth it to buy the Annuals in December rather than buy each of the comics standalone, since Vader 3 seems to be a fairly rare issue (took me 3 weeks to find between 8 shops near me). I've heard good things about Kanan: The Last Padawan but have been waiting until I finish Clone Wars and start Rebels to read it. Princess Leia was fairly forgettable, and I've heard similar sentiments about Chewbacca. Haven't read Lando or Shattered Empire, but they look like they should be some fun.

For TV, I like the Clone Wars series but IMO the movie was terrible. Bad CG, bad line readings, poor plot. Rebels has been pretty solid so far, and I can't wait until I actually sit down and watch it.

For books, if you're willing to dip into Legends, I would strongly recommend the Bane trilogy by Drew Karpyshan for Old Republic material and the Thrawn books by Timothy Zahn for post-Jedi material. Great reads.

I have to agree about Ahsoka she is the frist really kick ass main character female Jedi from a canon source. For the laundry list complaints people had about the prequels my number one complaint was, and still is, that the prequels did not give us a main character (in other words one who was something more than window dressing) female Jedi. Had Lucas given me that I could have overlooked Jar-Jar, who I did not find as annoying as some. Sure he was a pain in the ass but he is socially irrelevant in the grand scheme of Star Wars (in other words Star Wars remained popular with or without him). A main character female Jedi, on the other hand, could have given fans (and those of us who still insist on writing post-graduate papers on the topic) a huge talking point about the greater social relevance of such a character. Though Ahsoka fills that role to some extent, try presenting a paper mentioning her to a room full of people who have only heard or or seen the films---yeah crickets. While there are tons of examples in the EU of lead female Jedi, the canon is a bit lacking in that arena, making me love Ahsoka all the more (Sadly as one who cut the cord 6 years ago I have yet to have seen any of Rebels, I may have to break down a but it here before long).

Anyway, I now look to the new films to correct this, IMO, rather huge over site. **AS I hope beyond hope that Rey is, or becomes, the baddest Jedi since some guy said, "Hey let's put an energy beam on the end of this handle and swing it around."**

Yeah, Ahsoka again and for ever!

Her voice really was annoying in the very first Clone Wars animated series. But, it turns out that while she grows up, her voice does too, and she becomes one of the most badass Jedi I have seen!

I mean, she fought Ventress, Grievous (though briefly), even the Count Dooku, and she lives while she is a mere Padawan. How BADASS is that??!!

Wow, you guys are awesome! Looks like I've got a lot to catch up on. It'll keep me occupied waiting for my first saber which is good!

I'll definitely be starting with the canon stuff you guys suggested, just cause it s the me the most accessible right now. Gonna start with the Clone Wars tonight!

I didn't know about Ahsoka but after reading on the Internet a little I'm excited for her!

There was a recent tease for upcoming episodes of Rebels, showing Ahsoka pulling her twin white-bladed sabers, and moving towards the two Inquisitors who have become the bad guy dejour so far this season. It sent chills, and increased my desire for a white bladed saber of my own!

They actually had some fairly decent versions of her sabers on the list of future releases, but at some point, it fell away. I think they "vaulted" the designs for now. However, if Rebels continues to gain popularity, there could be enough demand for those that it might change their mind.
