I've also heard they don't look too good. The quick connects seems like a viable option honestly, That way I can keep the lower budget and still be able to exchange LED's without soldering.
And I'm getting a ton of blood orange recommendations. Hmmmm...

Add my voice to the call for a Blood Orange. White is OK but IMO bland, to me it just does not say Sith the way Red or Blood Orange do, that said the price for the quick connects is worth in for me because I just know I'm going to want to swap colors eventually.

Okay, what exactly is quick connect? I don't think it's on the FAQ, otherwise I wouldn't ask.

They put a small plug in line with the wires, if you want another color you order an LED with quick connects and and rather than having to solder you just plug it in and go, takes like two minutes tops.

My issue with blood orange is that my brother got a 6w amber saber a while ago. I don't like getting a similar color to one I already have. Red is becoming more and more appealing.

Then I'd say either red as you suggested, or possibly purple.

Hi KnightCoaster,

I just wanted to apologise for posting the wrong info about Colour Discs, I personally hadn't heard of the problems of them melting until my friend Dav informed us. I had heard they were slightly dimmer but I suggested them as an option not knowing your financial situation. I tried to show the simple and cheaper option then suggest the extra LED and Quick Connect system you've been told about.

I hope you "find your perfect saber", and I will watch this topic to see how you get on.

Kind regards,

For Tyeth

The time has come for me to pick a saber color.
I have two choices, in my mind:
White...
...or Red!

A little background is that I've decided to cosplay a Sith for next year's DragonCon, and my feeling is that A- a lot of folk will do sith cosplays with Red lightsabers, and B- I would like to stand out as far as design if possible, a white lightsaber is ambiguous enough to go for Gray Jedi or dark force user if I wanted to. Plus I would like to own a white saber...
...but the Dark side calls to me yet. Red is appealing in a strange way.
I need opinions from saber owners and Star Wars enthusiasts. Fire away!

Reading your post, it seems you want to standout at the Con. If that's your sole motivate, then white might be the color. Red will be much more common.

Personally, red is a more brilliant color than white. I prefer the red. I received my Epoch last night in 12W+ white, which lights up a bedroom. The white has a very subtle light blue hue in it. It's brilliant. But I think I just prefer the red out of two beautiful colors nonetheless.
