I know there are different blade lengths available. For instance the 37 inch blade unattached to the hilt would measure 37 inches. Once attached it would appear shorter wouldn't it?

As far as I know, non windowed, non thin necked hilts have a blade socket 1.5" deep. This might vary a bit but I'm not sure.

OK. So a 37 inch blade would appear 35 1\2 inches of visible blade when attached.
