Yeah, I had to break that habit lol. Ended up modifying my single weapon form a bit to avoid things like that. I've gotten to the point where I can close and use my off hand on intermediate saber duelists without risking it getting hit by their blade.

Doesn't work as well as using twin sabers though :)

this is close to what I have had to adopt so I stop grabbing saber blades out of habit lol.

Fun story, my first few bouts in saber combat I kept grabbing blades out of habit. I've started grabbing hilts when I can during the rare moments I am only wielding one saber. It so hard getting that timing right though and I can only pull it off 60% of the time.

Honestly though I will almost ALWAYS gravitate towards Doble Baston Sinawali techniques when I can lol

When I was younger, I thought it would be cool to utilize a dual-wielding flow technique using 40 inch sabers and a kind of Soresu, the idea being that two sabers would increase the mobility of your circle of protection and enable unpredictability. The only hitch being handedness and your brains ability to focus on two independent weapons at once while still considering your opponent.

However, I've gotten older since then (can't believe it's been only two years since I thought like that), and now I feel as though I would adopt a more traditional single-saber Djem So style, which utilizes less motion but still maximizes defense and is more weighty and aggressive.
