This may end up being a throwaway topic, and if it is, then Brax can feel free to get rid of it. I'm sure someone has already thought about doing this, but would it be possible to isolate the specific soundfonts of your lightsaber(s) from your SWTOR files and use them in an actual lightsaber? Like by pulling the files out somehow, or copying them from your computer?

I doubt it, since I would assume the files to be saved directly onto the server of your choosing in-game, but I figured that I ought to ask.

why not run some recording software in the background while you play?

I would agree, but I would face a couple of problems.

1. I would need reliable recording software, which I currently don't have time or resources to get.

2. To get a good sound mix, I would need to rip several different sounds from the recording, at once.

3. It would be far too time consuming.

4. I want clean sounds. On some older fonts ripped from the films and whatnot, I can sometimes catch background noise from particular actions. I would have to be really, really good at ripping sounds to do that, which I have never even attempted before.

If there's a simple way to just pull the sounds directly from something to create a soundfont, then great. Otherwise, I'm not going to worry about it.

If you can record your screen while you play, you can chop it down to exactally where your sounds are and use a free editing software to name and save em.

Would I be able to do this while isolating the lightsaber sounds from the other sounds and white noise?

You might want to see if there’s some kind of tool to extract files from your game installation. There was for KOTOR, I think it was just called KOTOR Tool.

You definitely don’t want to rip it while playing. Even if you turn off the music and voice, you’re going to get other sounds. Even if you go somewhere isolated like your ship, it has ambient noise.

My thoughts exactly about recording. I want crisp, clean audio files if I can get them. I'll poke around for a tool of some kind, see what I can come up with.

Hello Master Eddlyss,

I have sent you a PM with some information that may be of interest to you on where to get some FX noises. You may need software like Audacity to record them to your hard drive but it may be worth a look.

Brax can go ahead and lock this topic, I've gotten what I wanted out of it and we should probably avoiding skirting the realm of copyright infringement.
