TOPIC: Princess build log

started this today, paint progress. Planning on using a Spark color 2(thanks Jas-ot) the new x4 led star B/RB/G/W. I did some drill press work, and painting. colors will be black, brass, and silver, replacing all the hardware with brass screws, and a brass covertech knob, brass blade plug.

Paint mock up is done, and brass fasteners are installed, I like it a lot. Now on to Electronics.

This has never been one of my favorite models, but I definitely like this one!

Are you going to let the brass age naturally or will you be clearcoating it?

I think I'm gonna leave it exposed, and let it get scuffs and what not happen through use naturally. if I clear it I'll have some grit done to the handle to give it some grip, I think a clear coat might make it slippery.

Dang, I'm trying to figure out how I missed this a few days ago. That looks awesome.

Chassis is done and wiring done and tested, the rumble motor will be in the thin mid section, Now its time for install into Saber. The Cree 4x star is working pretty well, need to test down a blade, before I can thumbs up it.

Nice clean look. This the one you are going to enter into the contest?

Looks amazing, can't wait to see how the 4x XP-E2 behaves with a blade next the the SF quad

I had to do it 1 at a time, being I don't have enough blades of the same length for the testing, I used a 32 inch thick walled SF blade, I did 3 sabers I have with the basic same LED configurations, I have a hero PNP ASP with a X4 blue/Rb/Green/amber and I have a prizm 5.0 with Royal blue/green/white, and lastly the for mention x4 XP-E2, I did the same blade in each in the same lighting, what we are really talking about is base flare vs lighting and color mixing ability(sadly I really can't do proper color mixing with this, since its RB/B/G/W). I turned on only the Blues and green in each saber to max.

SO lets start with the Tri XP-E2 RB/G on full.

The base flare on the 4X is bigger than the base flare on the X4, but still fills the blade perfectly. SO from my point of view in all honesty, I think that the tri cree is still the way to go, the 4X and X4 both also have a place, the X4 for thin Necks that need the led mounted below the emitter, and the 4X when you just really want to mix 4 channels, but would suggest getting R/G/RB/A or White if you don't like amber.
