I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up. Almost ordered a warrior.
I badly want a custom powder coated Guardian.

And that's a sweet looking saber!

I didn't know either! I was searching for one. Put in cart and removed from cart repeatedly on Etsy. Then a bit ago someone seen on the forum that I was looking for one and offered (not to sell) but just show me pictures of their new one. That's how I noticed the anodized shroud so inquired to SF about it. And true enough, thats the finish the guardian shroud comes in now.

Indeed!
It seriously JUST happened.
I was talking to him about his recent Templar custom he did, then I figured if there's anyone to ask if he had one or knew anyone that did have one. SO I asked. And sure enough he was considering the sale of his but nothing really solid. He told me the specs and that it was a standard finish. I told him I was partial to the weathered finish so boom, he did it. Then I told him I wanted to do a light shatter.. *give me a minute he says*.. boom done. He asked if I had anything to say I told him to tell me his paypal lol.
I saw that too and laughed a bit; it's great when stuff works like that!

Whhhhhy? I really prefer the polished aluminum look, the anodization feels weird, like dragging your fingers across a chalkboard.
Wish List: Arbiter, Count, Insurgent, Protector, Regal, Grandmaster

It is great when it works out like that.
He wanted some extra cash for the soundboards for his templar custom and I happen to come along looking for a Guardian when he was considering selling. Then with his already proven skill in weathering and shattering, I asked, he felt creative and obliged so it was a win/win/win/win scenario =)

Regarding the anodizing of the guardian shrouds now. As per conversation with Justin; I think it boils down to the company that used to do the coating (it wasn't a standard polished finish apparently) no longer does it or is no longer in business. To get that finish on the shroud just wasn't or isn't cost effective where as the anodization process is easy, cost effective and does provide a protective coating for the raw aluminum.

I am more of a fan of the polished or at least the satin finish as well.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Does that mean most sabers will be anodized then? The newer hilts such as the Mauler, Vengeance, and Grandmaster (I think the choke portion is though) aren't anodized and I have a hard time imagining the Count getting the anodized treatment. Hmmmmmm.

Pretty cool score with a guardian there Nebosa. I have added it to my etsy cart a few times as well, but havnt had a chance to pull the trigger. I am sort of wondering if SF might look into reinforcing the metal shroud down the road though since I have heard it dings easy in dueling. I would def want mine to be weathered as well. I totally would of jumped on that deal if I had known about it. Awesome man!

I don't believe so.
The standard finish is just sanded aluminum.
I can't see the Mauler going that way nor some of the others.
The shroud to the Guardian I think was like a chrome or high polished rather than the standard sanded I believe. So I think it just had a different coating that they had to do something else with? imo.
