Hey guys,

I'm in the market for some high-quality/high-durability Clone Trooper Helmet replicas and possibly full-armour sets. There seems to be a lot of information online regarding just that, but most of it is dated with dead links.

I did come across a website called 'Star Fortress Productions', which from the pictures seems very promising but I've read a ton of compromising and frightening information regarding Thomas Ernie Scheuer.

Just wondering if you guys have any reputable links or suggestions? I'm not much of a DIY guy so finished products would be ideal (the cooler the better, with lights, etc. You can see my standard of quality from the sabers I buy at SaberForge!), but I'd be alright with painting kits if it would mean better quality parts. I'm currently looking into a Commander Cody Phase III as well as a Republic Commando bucket.

Thanks so much in advance and may the forge be with you!

im unsure if this guy has it. I'm on my phone and having issues loading the page to confirm. But worth a check.

Thanks for the heads up. They do indeed have a Cody helmet. Do you have personal experience with them? It's a new store (January 2015) with only 13 feedback. Plus, looking closely at the photos he uses and the fact that they're based in the Philippines, I think this is Thomas from Star Fortress.

The idiot's everywhere.

I have no idea who that is but it doesn't sound promising lol.
I have no prior experience with him, inquired about something a bit ago and never got a reply.
Been eyeing up one of his Jedi trooper armor sets for a while now but your comment has me definitely reconsidering it even more than I thought before. I think I'm taking my characters Jedi garb in a different direction now anyways.

From the stuff I've read on the internet, he had to flee the US with his wife to the Philippines as he was wanted for child pornography amongst other terrible things. Some people have ordered from him and received their stuff, some haven't. Even if I were to get everything with a smooth transaction, I wouldn't feel right ordering from someone like that.

Oh well!

Did find this guy's link: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/253592425/star-wars-clone-trooper-helmet-11-scale

He's supposedly in the US, but could still be purchasing the parts from Asia.

From the little bit of digging I've done online, it looks like this is the guy: https://instagram.com/randybailey81/

He has a YouTube channel as well where he shows some of his 'making ofs' here: https://www.youtube.com/user/rbcustoms81/videos

His paint jobs are absolutely incredible and his pricing isn't too bad. He also uses thick acrylic for the visors instead of the flimsy film. I'm trying to get in contact now to purchase a weathered shock trooper helmet, as well as either a Boba Fett helmet or another custom Mando bucket.

I'm playing around with a few ideas in Photoshop, will post one here soon.

It should also be mentioned that as of right now, I'm not sure if the Etsy page is run by the same guy. The Instagram and YouTube links I provided are definitely the maker, but the Etsy page is run by someone of a different name. May be him, may be a friend. But the product shots and products themselves are identical.

Here's my first Mando Helm idea. The top and cheeks would be an exposed metal, with the upper cheeks painted black and the visor section in orange as such. Let me know what you guys think!

Thank you! Happy to send a (sloppy) .psd file if anyone wants to play around with the colours on that template too.

I'm just hoping he's still taking commissions. These, coupled with sabers from Saberforge... I'm a happy kid in a candy store.

I'd love to help but I suck at PSDs ...

My girlfriend's pretty good though, but I'll have a hard time convincing her to do anything Star Wars :/

It's a pretty simple slider-based file, just changing the hue/saturation and brightness/contrast with clipping layers. :) Let me know if you're interested! The layers are a bit fuzzy, but it came out alright with mine, so.

Update: I've contacted the Etsy store which I listed. Turns out they're both roommates and do the work together, so jackpot! Super friendly guys who respond within minutes.

Everything is cast and hand-finished in California, with darn reasonable pricing. They honestly look like the real deal. Currently in the process of commissioning a Shock Trooper and Boba helmet and got the green light for a custom paint job bucket as well.

I'll keep you guys posted in the coming weeks, hopefully these guys are as reputable as they currently seem.

Wow those helmets look absolutely beautiful. I'm very tempted to commission one myself but the exchange rate just kills me. I can't stand to pay 25% extra on American imports anymore!

I'm located in Canada too! The exchange I'm seeing numbers of about $300 CAD per, which isn't bad when you consider the crummy quality costume helmets which retail for $90-150 up here. If you're honestly interested, I might be able to work something out with him for bundled shipping with my own, and depending on where you are in Canada I could dispatch that to you.

Just a suggestion. :)

Thank you for the offer! I'm located in Southern AB. I'd have to agree, some of the stuff we have up here should not be on store shelves. I'm doing my cosplay with a budget of about $500 max right now, and I'm looking to include body armor in that for dueling so unfortunately I don't think I can get one now. I would definitely like to do a Mando cosplay soon though, I'll have these guys saved for that.
