Minor update.

Needed to initiate some DIY repairs as the glue that failed (uptop) surrounding the charge port decided to fail for the AV Switch and the 3 Silver buttonhead screws around the Emitter. It did provide me with some clarity (although remains unverified) as to why the Body shroud around the inlaid grip feels so brittle.

As a correction (from earlier observations) the Red & Gold Greeblies actually serve as secondary and tertiary LED retention screws. They need to be completely removed before the module will release. Whilst on corrections, the 3 Silver buttonhead screws recessed in the Emitter shroud were formerly half tightened and glued from factory. These, when completely tightened along the threads are actually 3 additional blade retention screws (evenly spaced at 120 degrees apart). Again, they need to be either loosened to become free from snags or removed completely before a blade can be seated against the module upon insertion.

Emitter shroud completely removed. Not too uncommon where Emitters have a separate shroud that can be removed, this, quite possibly was (is) glued from factory but it’s not anymore.

When the covertech is unscrewed and Pommel removed, there is sideways shifting from the shroud. This (where normally glued tight below the choke) is also secured by the switch and charge port. With the glue not holding up near choke, the only remaining anchors are the charge port and switch. This I suspect places direct stress against the seated port and switch threads. With the charge port and switch recently reglued, there is no other way I can recognise to reglue the upper shroud (near the choke). In order to do so, the charge port and switch will have to be completely removed (including snipping the wires) which I don’t intend on doing. No send backs will be accommodated by CS so it looks like it will inevitably remain brtittly and buckly unless I opt to swallow the return shipping and repair costs for something that came .. well, compromised. Yay! :woohoo:

As a side note on the adhesive, the kill key that came with my Hero kit just broke off when I tried to remove it. From how it looks, the peg and the grip appear to be separately 3-D printed and secured using almost a pin-sized amount of adhesive. It broke just as I was pulling it to show a coworker. Easily fixable with pliers and loctite, but unfortunately I don't have those on hand at work. RIP.

WTF....

This just highlights why I'm building my own sabers from now on. There's cutting costs, and then there's just plain shitty craftsmanship. This smells of the latter. $300+ US for a saber is not cheap, and I would expect the things to at least be durable.

My question is if this is a commonality among the builds of the various hilts you've had issues with, or if you somehow just keep getting the bad apples. I can't imagine this is all a coincidence of you getting stuck with some 1 out of 100 bad builds constantly.

Went and did some more things.
This is what Was and follows with what Is.

Channelling the Dark Obi themed Saber, a great iconic Hilt with Avenger however I was left unsettled and peace was challenged with the V3 Finish.

Ignition burst streaming Light Blue, decided to revisit this one from out of the chest drawers and back onto a display highlight.

Remaining consistent to the imagined theme surrounding it,
Dark Kenobi

Subbed out the former fitted Red Orange with Deep Red.

Deep Blue

As if to reforge using fallen Qui Gon’s Green Crystal ,
walking the path of the Dark, wielding Green.

 There’s no end to the exercised silliness. :silly:

Crimson Avenger| Mark V

That’s all. B)
