This posting can end out being a place for people to share cool color combos they come up with, weather it be from RGB sabers, or custom ordered DIY LED stars. I want to start this off with one question, though: for anyone who has this color combination, or an RGBA lightsaber, what color do you end up getting when you mix together a blue and an amber LED? Pictures would be great if possible.

I dont own blue and amber LEDs but I found 24-bit RGB Codes of amber and medium blue, which are "255, 194, 0" and "0, 0, 205" respectively. Then I used Wolfram Alpha light color mixer to mix amber and medium blue. Screenshots below,

It appears to be a soft pink, could be an interesting saber color

I'm using a custom GGBW LED in my curved ASP. NBv3 board, so the white is FoC.

LED mix would be somewhere between cyan and mint green, but the result is a blade with a gradient that goes from mint green to arctic blue. Pretty awesome.

Hold up now. Did you get a Vanquish and swap the emitter and pommel, or did you somehow get your hands on one of the curved ASP bodies already!?!?

That color is really nice BTW.

Yea, it's a Vanquish that I received a few weeks ago. I wasn't a fan of the emitter's sharpish edges or the way too large pommel.

So I ASPed it.

I agree about the emitter being too sharp and fragile while the pommel actually muffles the sound a lot. Ill probably be altering mine in time as well.

Thanks a bunch, DS. Would you happen to know the 24-bit code for the regular/light blue LED? That was what I was referring to when I asked: 2 amber LEDs and 2 (light) blue LEDs...

I dont know any 24-bit codes myself lol, I just find them on the internet. I'll check the light blue and mix again, its my pleasure ;)

Okay I tried to mix light blue and amber, but when I added the given RGB ratios for light blue and amber it kept saying "invalid values" idk what went wrong, I'm not an expert on this. But I managed to mix them by giving similar ratios, it probably isnt 100% accurate but it should give you an idea of the color.

I tried it on 2 different sites, and got these colors. So 2x Amber and 2x Light blue should look something like this. As I said before, an interesting color for a saber. Looks unique. Please let us know if you combine these colors.

I can't currently see my other reply, but I meant to say I was going to use the LED combo of 2 royal blue and 2 amber LEDs for a custom "Sakura Pink" color on a Japanese sword themed lightsaber.

When I put deep blue and amber on full with my RGBA, it's almost white with a little bit of a pink hue. I wouldn't call it pink; more of a very washed out pink.

I'd love to do it but I failed to do royal blue & amber mix requested by AvalonEtc.

You only can add RGB ratios (0 to 255, 0 being none and 255 being 100% color added)

Amber's RGB ratio was 255, 194, 0 and
Medium Blue's was 0, 0, 205

So I just wrote 255, 194, 205 in order to mix amber and medium blue.

I tried royal blue and amber but when I added the numbers together it said "invalid input" bc the ratios were more than 255. I guess the software makes it like we have 1 RGB led. Which doesnt work with complex light mixtures.

Here is the link, you'll find the mixing widget at the bottom of the page. Read the informations above for basic knowledge, maybe you can figure out what I couldnt.

Since people are curious about it, I have a saber with a Tri-Cree Royal Blue/Amber/White that I'm gonna be using for my newer ASP build. The color with both on full is actually a purple color, curiously enough. Almost like a lavender, but it looks more like a halogen car lamp, if that makes sense! I can post pictures later if you all want to see.

As you wish

Here is what my camera sees without focus and/or exposure:

Here is another shot with slightly less exposure:

Here is more of what it actually looks like, but it's a bit brighter than that:

edit-I see they are rotated... oops. I suppose it doesn't really matter that much. You can all see the colors haha.

This thread might be of use for planning color combinations:

It also explains how you might get lavender or pink from one of the Blue/Amber combos.
