So I have a Prizm v4 and am running into some trouble with it. After some use the sound board will put out a steady beep for about 1-2 seconds then restarts. Some googling told me that this is related to the sound font, that a file it was looking for was not present or corrupted. To that end I've tried multiple times to use fresh installs of sound fonts, formatting the SD card multiple times. I've tried a few different fonts, it doesn't seem to occur with all of them but I haven't found any pattern as to which it does occur with and doesn't.

Any other possible problems it could be?

Thanks.

Have you tried it again with the default package? (which you can find here, if you didn't make a backup)

You could even try just putting a single sound font on there.

Do you have the correct number of swings, clashes, etc files?

The default sound fonts seem to work fine. I've currently been working with 4 different sounds fonts trying to compare them, Pitch Black and Nightfall work fine, along with the defaults Dark meat, grey meat, light meat. The two fonts currently giving me trouble is The Old Republic Crucible and Sith Lord Unleashed.

I've compared what I have between the 2 that work and the 2 that don't, there are certain things on here that I'm pretty sure the Prizm v4 doesn't need, such as combo, stab, spin, ect but I've even filled those in from the other fonts just in case to basically ensure that the fonts that don't work have the exact same file names and number as the ones that do.

Just in case, below is a file list from one of the fonts that isn't working:
blaster.wav
blaster2.wav
blaster3.wav
blaster4.wav

Take the spin, stab and combo files out of there, they will cause problems.

When you download fonts, they typically come with a full CF package - meaning there's stuff in there that won't work on the Prizm or NB, so you have to prune out just the files you need.

Unfortunately I run into the trouble with or without those files. I copied them over from the working sound font because the ones not working didn't have those files.

What are the exact font yours wanting to load, presuming they are available on Saberfont, if I have them in my font collection I'll be happy to load some onto one of my Prizm sabers for you and see if I have any of the same issues.

Extra files don't hurt. I regularly pop CF fonts onto NB and CS setups.

The trouble is, you can't add a new font to a card that's already setup. You need to setup a new SD in a temporary folder on your computer, format the SD, then copy the contents of that folder in one sweep. Long version is:

1) Make a new folder anywhere on your computer. This is where you'll temporarily setup your SD files.

2a) If you have working settings and/or fonts on your SD card that you want to keep, copy them into the folder made in step 1. Otherwise, …

2b) If you're starting fresh, just extract the contents of the default files zip into the folder from step 1.

3) Remove any fonts you don't want from the temporary folder. Add any fonts you want to the temporary folder.

4) Format the SD card.

5) Copy the contents of the temporary folder to your SD card. Drag-and-drop can be unpredictable, so you're better off using keyboard shortcuts. In the folder window, CTRL+A to Select All, CTRL+C to Copy, then over in the SD window, CTRL+V to Paste.

~

The entire process is mandatory any time you're making changes to the soundbank audio. It doesn't matter if you're adding a font, removing a font, or just changing a single swing sound. You MUST wipe the SD and bring over all new files in one motion.

The only files you can edit without formatting are the text files.

The exact fonts I'm having trouble with are Dark Lord Unleashed, which is on Saberfonts and The Old Republic Jedi and Sith Editions which is a CF default font.

Yeah, I'm following these steps. I've tried multiple times to format the SDcard additional times and do fresh installs/downloads of the fonts because I've heard some people mention they can be a bit weird. But no good.

They aren't supposed to (Just like having the manual at the root of the directory on an NEC board shouldn't) but I've had them cause problems, both on NB and Prizm. Maybe I'm just "lucky" though :P

Just to be safe I re-downloaded those sound fonts and put them completely back to normal and still get the issue. I also tried swapping the sound fonts and installing just the problem sound fonts to see if it was something to do with the number I had installed (4) or which bank they were in, still same problem.

I'm doing a full format of the SD card every time I make changes.

I don't see the old republic jedi or sith editions in my CF8 font folders, unless the are a different names, I do have a Lord Blanko- Dark Lord Unleashed.

Yeah Dark Lord Unleashed is one of them. If you download the default package for CFv8 Crucible is in bank 9.

I found them, I also had the Malign version so I used Dark Lord Unleashed on bank 1, Crucible in bank 2, and Malign in bank 3, I only removed the config, lockup, idle, and leds files specific to the CF board and added back in the leds, config, and the color wav from the Prizm V4 stock files, I didn't sort through anything or eliminate anything else, I went completely nuts swinging, stabbing, spinning, clashing, using the lockup and force motions, and doing all the color changing on each of the banks with no problems.

Crucible and Malign worked fine on my Ardent (CS3.0), as well as Shatterpoint and Revolt, though I did omit the combo/spin/stab sounds.

Looking through that bit you posted earlier, it looks like you're keeping all of the CF .txt files when you copy over? (config, idle, leds, lockup) Pretty sure you need to get rid of those and just use the .txt files for the Prizm. When adding fonts all I copy are the .wav files, and I copy the .txt files from another bank and alter them for the new font as needed.

You're right, those are CF .txt files, but they're present in the working fonts as well, must have got there at some point and I had copied them over for all. I removed the CF files and am using the same .txt files for each bank. Still no good on just those two fonts.

I then went ahead and started completely from scratch again on all my settings, complete default. And that fixed it? I'm honestly at a loss because I've started from scratch a couple times now. I rebuilt my settings from scratch and every thing seems good. I'd love to mess around with it more to figure out the problem but I'd also rather not break it again. Are these things really just that temperamental?

Are there settings in R.I.C.E. or the config files that could just break things like that?

I don't think they are that temperamental I mess with mine a lot and never once had a issue with files, I think you just had a bad run with yours, just back up the SD before you play with it so you know you have a working copy to fall back on.
