Quote from Phil on the Custom Light Saber Owners Facebook feed:
Want Adaptive Saber Parts in your home town? Ask your local game store to carry the all new Adaptive Saber Parts retail display.

That would be cool
The wounded Jedi looks up at the massive man wielding a 6' long light saber! The last words the Jedi hears is "Yes, I am Sith, and oh, so much more"

Another quote with more information:
This is the very first one, if you would like to see this display in your local tabletop game store or comic shop talk to the manager of your local shop about carrying the ASP display. The display is free and the wholesale discount is 30% off MSRP.

This would be incredible! I am imagining walking into a store like GameStop and buying, assembling and dueling/playing with your saber the same day! Holy shit! :woohoo:

That would be very cool! I really would like to be able to look at the parts before buying them.

That is a VERY smart idea; there's probably a lot of people out there that would love a custom saber but wouldn't realize until they see it in person.

Though I would hope SF would thoroughly train somebody at the shop about the ins-and-outs of the kits.

This is pretty damn cool! I guess the question would be whether Saberforge would be able to supply enough parts to outweigh demand if these get really popular.

That's neat! I would be hanging out in my local store all day instead of using the Virtual Saber Builder.....lol

Not to be Debbie Downer, but I'd wonder the feasibility of this. This is a pretty niche hobby, and not a cheap one either. It would take a sizable commitment on SF's part to stock parts to resellers, and I would wonder if that would be worth the return.

I think it would be cool to go to my local hobby or gaming store and be able to buy a full saber, but I don't think individual parts would have the same appeal. If I were SF, I would look at setting up resellers to sell full sabers instead.

The type of store might be important too. Walmart might not make an ideal point; imagine sales girl Sally from high school answering customer questions about ASP.

A hobby games store is different. :)

Well, the folks at one of my local hobby shops said they thought it was cool and would "look into it," so I guess we'll see what happens.

That would be absolutely epic in one of our local gaming hobby stores, but it wouldn't be feasible as the sabers are very expensive due to the Rate of Exchange for USD/ZAR. :(
There in the US it could probably work but it is likely to be a very niche request as already stated on a previous post.

I love the idea of being able to buy the parts physically, especially the blades and spear extensions.
Unfortunately, I live in Valdosta, GA, so im about as far away from Portland Oregon as you can be.
What's the range on this service? I'd hate to ask the local shop and get everything worked out to find that we're just too far away.
Trust me on everything, quote me on nothing

The details, along with the proposed mix of parts was still being worked on with the pilot store. However, it would seem like there would be a shipping cost for the physical display, along with all of the parts, but within the continental US, it should be not a deal breaker. Once it becomes available, it should just be a matter of putting the proprietor of your local comic/game shop to contact SF, and get the details. I will put a follow-up post on this thread as soon as I hear of any change in status. B)

This would be pretty hot at E.B. Games in Canada!

Amazing stuff! I'd really like to see that happen. :)

A lot of us would! I think he still has the pilot model at a local Comic store, but things have not moved beyond that yet.

Is SF bringing displays to the big conventions? The top 3 seem to be San Diego, New York and Emerald City. That may be another venue for sales.

They do plan to have a booth (though, not an ASP display) at some upcoming Cons. Can't recall the list off the top of my head, but I don't think it included SDCC.
