Indiegogo is one of the first crowdfunding sites to come into existence. I believe they were founded in 2008. I'm not 100% sure on order process, but I think it's very similar to how Kickstarter works; you pick your perk, provide your payment information, and it is collected by Indiegogo then transferred to SF at the end of the campaign, for which they charge SF a set fee based on the amount of pledges made during said campaign. I think Indiegogo is different in that it collects the funds right away, however. I'm not sure yet whether or not that means SF also gets the money immediately or if they still get it in a lump sum at the end, because they do state that if a campaign fails all backers will get their money back. So it may be that Indiegogo collects and then holds until the end, when it is released to SF. So yes, it's very secure.

Thanks, I just needed some background info. I've made the contribution, but where do I go know? Was I suppose to have made an account on indiegogo before I chose my perk? Im a bit lost at this point. I'm stuck at the step where it thanks you for the contribution

Once you've selected your perk, you can use the saber built (saberparts.com) to select your build/rewards, then send them in a list, direct message on Indiegogo to Phil, so he can attach your order to your pledge/account directly. Make sure you're very very sure about the parts you want for it, I'm not sure yet if Indiegogo allows for easy changes to orders once submitted in.

Would it still work if you didn't make an account on indiegogo?

Send a message in through Indiegogo. It should come in attached to your pledge, as a backer. If not, Phil will let you know.

OMG I've encountered a technical difficulty, and I'm flipping out! I need some help ASAP, I purchased the perk on my LAPTOP, and then I went to build the sabers, but when I was going to email the list it tells me "No apps are installed to open this type of link(mailto)
What do I do?! Most of the things I do online I do from my tablet, I just thought it would better to do it from the laptop. I think I made a grave mistake. |

So you're on the laptop trying to send a message in, or the tablet? Or both? Sounds like a simple fix... prolly need the Outlook app, or Gmail app, etc, installed to send the message.

Hold on, I managed to create an account on indiegogo and it saved my information so I then logged in from my tablet where I think I can do the email, so I might have fixed the problem. When I choose on the "email list" button on the ASP site, do I then pick email list or copy list?
Sorry about the chaos, I just unnecessarily gave myself a heart attack. At least for now I'm good. Phil should give you administrators a raise for having to deal with users like me! Lol |

Haha. I don't think I'm due for a raise for a while, still being very new to the role.
 BUT! I appreciate the sentiment.  You're not a pain to deal with at all, however, so don't worry about it. I'm not entirely sure, I haven't had a chance to back the indiegogo myself yet (I fully plan on it, but I have to get a couple paychecks in first.) So I'm really just repeating the information I've been told and not speaking from pure experience yet. I think what's best to do is email the list to yourself first, then copy the text from the email and send it in a direct message, not sure how the email to that source would be received, as it's not coming directly through the site, and may not attach directly to your order. |
