In case you missed, ILM recently hosted a challenge in pursuit of new concept artists, which turned out some amazing artwork. One of the designers showed off an incredible looking starship, that looked right at home in the SW universe, alongside the object it was inspired by: A can opener.
Long story short, a redditor made 3D model of it, and I tried my hand at coloring it and adding a background:

That's a pretty extraordinary Can Opener. Kinda makes you wonder about the backstories of inspiration with how the rest of the SW Universe came to be.

The concept art books for the movies are fantastic. The Force Awakens book is a must own. Some very cool art work in there plus plenty of descriptions and write up on the process, inspirations and how they arrived at some of the ideas.
