As others have said, yes, there is a difference in brightness, but it's really not as massive as you might think. My Bane is (obviously) a 12W, and my wife's Reborn is a RGBA, and side by side they look about the same to the naked eye. The RGBA has a little bit more color loss down the blade in certain colors (mostly the "darker" ones like red and orange), but it still looks pretty nice.

Really it's just a matter of personal preference. If you want a purple blade, go with the 12W or 12W+. If you want options, go with the RGBA.

(Though in a Bane, I personally would suggest sticking with a single color, as I hear the on-board interface in the Hero tier is a bit confused by the hilt curve. The interface involves spinning the hilt around its central axis, and the curve of the Bane throws off the sensors and makes it difficult to trigger the sequence.

Plus, I kind of feel that the Hero tier almost has too many options. Nine color banks and six sound fonts is a bit overwhelming. I just want a nice simple saber that lights up and goes "Mmmmm" when I turn it on, so I personally am gonna stick to Champion Tier. But, again, what you order all comes down to what YOU want.)

For sake of comparison, here's a photo of our current saber collection.

Top is a Kylo Ren Force FX.

Second is my Bane.

Third is the wife's Reborn RGBA in a pike configuration.

Bottom is the 6W Fury we picked up used from JediRabbi here on the forums.





As you can see, the Reborn looks just as bright as than the Bane. If not a little brighter due to the color. So whether you go single color or multi, it's all gonna look good.

As a personal aside: I think an all-black or weathered Bane with a Purple or Indigo blade would look absolutely killer. You should definitely do that.
