I am going to be camping with the guys for the next 4 days, where cell/data service is very spotty. So, new member posts might take a little longer than normal to approve. I will check the site when the wind blows the right direction, and grants me a moment of 4G connectivity (as opposed to Edge, or nothing), but I am not going to be trying REALLY hard. This is a yearly event, that has been going on for the better part of 20 years, and I mean to enjoy it.
In the meantime, everybody behave, watch for SPAM posts, and I will see you Sunday afternoon if I am not able to check-in before that. |

I am back, and it was beautiful up there! Up at 7,300 feet elevation, the air is clear, and cool (quite the opposite of where I live), and it was a great trip, with great friends.

We have been doing this every year for 18 years, with mostly the same core group. I highly recommend starting a similar tradition, if possible. Plus, it is a chance for us to combine our "nerd factor", to see just how much we can do with tech, where there is little.
We bring a number of 100AH batteries, which allows us to charge devices, and even watch movies on a 55" screen! I know. Not exactly roughing it, but still a ton of fun. There was reading, ladder ball, and bean-bag toss (Corn Hole, as I believe it is called in some parts), as well as a variety of games being played at any given time. Poker, Settlers of Catan, and Clank! were the main fare on the table game front. It was a lot of fun. |

That's awesome. I did my fair share of camping growing up through Scouting, but getting any of those guys to go anywhere now is like pulling teeth.
Not sure how I feel about the 55" tv... but table games are always a win, especially Magic: The Gathering. I took 3 decks with me when we went to Philmont back in '07 haha. |

Gorgeous! I live at 6800 feet. I won't tease you guys with what my scenery is like everyday
