Everyone's giving the Acolyte love, and I think it's well deserved, but after receiving my Consular today, I think it deserves a little recognition, too.

I went for the weathered finish, and I really like how it looks, particularly around the emitter windows and the ridged sections of the hilt.

At 9", it's a little smaller than some of the Elite hilts, but at the same time it's still a very comfortable "hand and a half" blade. It did feel a smidge top-heavy before I put the battery in, but once I did the balance smoothed out nicely.

There aren't words for how I felt when I fired it up for the first time. I love the combination of the blood orange and the weathering - it came out even better than I expected.

And that sucker is BRIGHT! The 12W LED really makes it pop.

Do not look into the laser with your remaining eye.

My iPhone went into HDR mode automatically when I tried to get a close up shot of the blade in place:

It gives you a pretty good look at the depth of the orange color - it really pops all through the blade. I was really impressed!

After I took a few pictures, my wife had to give it a try, and she found it made an excellent cat toy...

And of course I had to take an obligatory saber selfie.

This was my first SF hilt, and even though I already ordered my second, I can tell you there will be more. I'm really impressed by the build quality (no rough edges!), the solidity of the assembled saber, and the ease of spins and flourishes with it. I'm really looking forward to walking into my fencing class on Monday with it - I suspect it's going to get a lot of attention!

Last two shots are just a couple more angles of the blade plug. I do wish that was slightly longer - if I'm not careful when I tighten down the retention screw, it will slip below the tops of the emitter windows, which isn't the look I want.

That is a pretty saber. I have one coming soon in the standard finish with the amber.. well have to compare pics and make all these other people envious of our consulars.

I like this plan. I'm proud to be a part of it.

I've always preferred the Consular over the Acolyte, I felt like the Acolyte's emitter is just a squished version of the Fury and I didn't like how short it is. Great review of the Consular! I definitely plan on getting one sometime down the line.

I completely see where the Acolyte is going - and I don't think there's anything wrong with the idea of it being a "simplified" version of the Fury, but the Consular spoke to me from the moment I saw it.

Now the only trouble is that this was supposed to be a "beater" saber for practices and drills...and now I'm starting to think about sending it back in a little bit to get a Champion upgrade in it after all!

I too prefer the Consular to the Acolyte. I just received my 2 Consulars today and I couldn't be happier about them. I got warrior level with standard finish and 6w amber blade. I bought them as a test for the 6w and to see if I'd like saborforge and the use of saberstaffs. So far I'm blown away, while I'm happy with the 6w for any future sabers I will upgrade to 12w. Here's a picture I took of them side by side to brag to some friends. I'll have to work on some action shots and some saberstaff shots later.

Oh, yes the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it...or learn from it.

Awesome, your weathered Consular has a cool sith look to it and and the picture keeps reminding how much i like the blade color blood orange. Its great alternative sith color still in the red spectrum that that just i think is more fun than the standard sith red.

Loving my consular as well (12w red warrior). Its an amazing secondary blade to wield, and the lady friend finds it to be a much better fit in her hand than some of the thicker elite sabers.

I bought it initially as a secondary blade to be worn mostly on the belt as part of my costume . The size/weight makes it very comfortable when worn and not cumbersome in the least, and its rather simplified and sleek look blends w/ the outfit well, rather than distracting from it as more ornate sabers may do.

After a few weeks of playing around with it though, while its not likely to replace the venomous fury, it will be seeing a great deal of use as well.
My current 6 sabers:

Warrior Consular
Warrior Venom
Warrior Epoch (x2)
Warrior Sinister
Champion Venemous Fury

Great looking saber. Looks like this would be a good hilt to duel with using the "Starkiller" style.

He already said they were amber. ;)

Think it should be noted that these particular sabers were not the original saber that the review thread was created for, as well. :)

Very good looking saber and awesome color match!
I would be planning to buy consular and equip the venom craw on the emitter(aside of the windows).
How many windows are there and is the emitter part thick enough?

There's four windows , and it's fairly thick but I don't know about trying to do the venom claw. It feels like it could get a little top-heavy.

The Consular is a pretty small hilt. I am not sure the Venom claws would look balanced on it.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Exactly it may be top heavy, I will equip two of venom claws.
Four windows and four pillars, it's good news for me.
Thanks for your help!

You are right maybe. It's just a plan.
I should have more consideration. Thanks too!

Nice! What length are those blades?
