TOPIC: Weathered Warrior Disciple

Hey everyone,
So today i got my Disciple (weathered) warrior edition 12w, and damn is it pretty…have a look. 
Now before i get ahead of myself, i have to give credit to saber forge..they make one hell of a lightsaber. Mine is perfectly and meticulously crafted, it fits flawlessly into my grip. the wrap is layered on to that it isn't to bulky, but is a solid part of the hilt to hold onto, for spins or quick turns of the wrist. The green 12w LED light illuminated my whole room, even in the daylight, this saber shines very bright. really love the saber again, its flawless and just how i hoped. can't wait for my sorcerer to arrive, review of that to follow. hope you enjoyed! |

Nice! I'm waiting on my 12w Lime Green weathered Disciple with a bronze stingray wrap and quick connect set up. The brown wrap and weathered hilt looks great, so I have high hopes for my bronze wrap and weathered hilt. Yours came out awesome, man!

yea the green defiantly makes the weathered hilt really shine, i really like how the combination looks too. Make sure you post a picture of the bronze stingray when you get yours, i bet its going to look awesome too. |

Thats a great colour combo, especially with the leather!
I've recently ordered a weathered Exhalted with purple LED and i'm hoping this combo will look good too, as I haven't actually managed to find any pics of this combo yet... |

Looks sensational, hadn't considered the green and weathered look, the brown wrap adds quite the realistic look to it as well.
They certainly are a neat looking unit without a wasted inch but in no way looking too short. |

also have a weathered sorcerer with green coming, easily my favorite color scheme combo.
ill post pics when i get the coupler to put them together. And Choos, i thought it was going to be smaller as well, it isn't at all, its average size and fits very comfortably in the hands. |

That will be a mean and awesome look when together for sure!
I think the weathered for the disciple comes up beautifully and did order mine though went with the red blade and dark red leather wrap for my cosplay character in mind. |

The weathered look is really nice starting to favor that finish myself...overall great selections. I thought it looked smaller as well but actually average looking good size hilt. Now you have to do a picture for your avatar with it!

well i know I'm gonna catch some flack for this probably, because everyone loved the color scheme so much, however i thought i would post a few pics of my Disciple now that I've started with the customizations.
As you can see, I've removed some of the weathering..leaving just some at the top of the emitter, a little near the ignition switches, and the pommel on the bottom. I.ve also removed the cover tech knob and will soon be replacing with a D ring, i just think it looks better. Also took down the emitter top just a quarter inch by sanding it down on an angle. the leather grip now has the outline of a design in it, which when finished ill post more pictures. i also gave it a heated treatment to give the leather that almost burnt and warn look. let me know what you guys think! |

I am completely down with your Disciple! I have fleeting thoughts of doing that to my Sorcerers but that means it's a double length project. Did the finish sand off quickly?

with a little elbow grease, yea it came off fairly quickly. that being said, the process can be tedious.
consistency counts so much with sanding any kind of metal, if you go the opposite way or at the wrong angle you'll end up with a more scratchy than polished look. i wanted the emitter to have that weathering at the top still to give it a burned look ( from the actually blade if it was laser hot and old) i like the contrast myself, light at heart, dark on the outside, can't wait to get the leather grip done so i can show that off too. any suggestions are welcome! thanks for the input |

what did you use to polish the saber, very fine sandpaper, steel whool or something different?

I should have posted this sooner, but my Disciple came in a few days ago
 the 12w lime green is amazing!And I love what you did with the weathering on yours! It gives it a more subtle aged look to the hilt.

That lime green is so kickass man! Post some more pictures!
Also to answer your question, first I used steel wool, then the sand paper and some good ol elbow grease. Not sure I'll il be doing any etching yet, but defiantly want to get a little more polishing done on her either way ( her name is iris lol) Should have the leather wrap design and etching done within the week though.. Stay tuned saber fans! |
