ok folks
ive just taken delivery of my redeemer hero.
im sooo happy with it and will deffo order again.
the build, the finish the sound, absolutely brilliant.

this is my third saber. the other two were both the hasbro force fx, removable blade.
im beginning to wonder if ive made a bad decision on the colours.

colour one is green, two is light blue.
the 3rd is a 12 watt mix making royal blue??
the colours up against my hasbros are spot on
but the brightness on 12w is the same - if not slightly dimmer than my hasbro

i did think that at 12w this would be a lot brighter!
am i missing something or is the choice in colour gonna keep the brightness down??
overall though a top notch saber, well done saberforge

This is interesting to me, and surprising.

Let me see if this is correct:

Redeemer Hero
1st 6w=Green (guessing Green/Green LED)
2nd 6w=Light Blue (maybe Green/Blue or Light Blue/Light Blue, but possibly Green/Royal Blue)
3rd12w=Royal Blue? (Meaning maybe ONLY the Royal Blue from 2nd LED)

If that's the setup, then, yeah, you're 3rd might be only really using a single 3w LED from the mix. Was the above your intended set up on your Hero that you requested when you ordered?

I'm curious to what we'll figure out about your saber. I'm no expert by any means, and could be totally off, but I hope you can figure it out.

Oh, and I think your color settings can be adjusted through some means and the SD card...

I moved this topic into the general store Q&A section, the original post location is more for buyers/sellers who make transactions with each other on this forum, and not directly with SaberForge, according to my understanding.

Regarding your saber, in theory the 6W Green (green/green) and the 6W Light Blue (blue/blue) should produce a 12W cyan (blue/green).

In my experience, the 6W sabers are brighter than the Hasbro/MR sabers, let alone a 12W! Is your Redeemer fully charged? My understanding is that SaberForge sabers sometimes arrive not fully charged, so you may want to try charging your saber until the charger light turns from red to green and then try comparing the 12W to your Hasbro sabers. Let us know what happens, and we can go from there :)

I have an empty hilt Redeemer for display and a champion one in medium blue :) The Obi-Wan RotS hilt is my favorite design, so as soon as I saw the Redeemer I knew I had to have one! Hope you enjoy yours!

As far as I'm aware the sabers use 4 x 3w led's.
2 for each colour . So all four would be lit to provide the final colour. Thus 12 watts.
its the brightness level I wasn't sure on.
The saber was freshly charged to green light.
And the hasbro was running old batteries. I have looked at the obvious colours against wall with no saber.
Colour one was just green. Two was just a blue. And the third colour up against a wall produced a definite green and blue that mixed in the saber.
So im still at the moment in deep thought about it. And I can't post pics as tried before and can't. So im none the wiser at the moment.

Ran the battery down and recharged twice in a row.
After last charge blade is noticeably brighter.
Things are looking a bit brighter now.

I recently bought a 12W module to replace the 6W my saber came with originally. It's defnitely brighter than the 6W on it's own, but with a blade on it actually looks about the same if not dimmer than before. What's happening is the light is very unevenly distributed up the blade. It flares out at the base of the blade causing the rest of the blade to look dimmer in relation. In the past when this has happend to me in other sabers it's been the lens having the wrong focus. It looks like a tighter focus might result in more uniform lighting.

Does anybody what optics(lens) are used in the LED modules. Mfg./model/angle? In particular I'd like to know what angle lens is used.

you can also double check your color.ini file to see if it had all LED set to 255. :)

I don't know the details on LED optics, but I do know that SaberForge is working on a new V4 blade which should eliminate the issue of a bright flare near the bottom of the blade and a dimming effect as you move further up the blade.

Here's the thread where Phil of SaberForge discusses his new blade option, and says that it hopefully will be ready by the end of the year, which is coming up in about a month :D so hopefully we'll see a V4 blade around Christmas time.

New V4 Blade Thread

And kaosbouncer, I'm glad it looks brighter now that you've ran the battery down and recharged it fully :)
