I've built plenty of sabers using different sound cards. This site is awesome for providing nice hilts at a very reasonable price. I'm really interested in using the 12w or 6w LEDs in some of my custom builds, but I can't find any info on the power requirements on them. Can someone be so kind as to tell me if they are usable with a single 18650 cell? Thank you for your time.

I'd also like to quickly ask if anyone has purchased one of their empty hilts and done the internals themselves. Does the hilt unscrew and is it multiple pieces?

I recently built a stunt with a 12w unit and run it with a 18650. The LED units are already pre-resistored for a 3.7v supply. It works fine, and has a long run time.

Then again, I recently read that the SF builds using the 12w LED needs an 18650B. ( I honestly don't know the difference between the 18650 and the B versions).

I'd be possibly running one of these LEDs with a nano, or a different 3 die LED with the new Prizm soundboard. Thanks for the response.

I cannot speak to the power requirements of the various batteries out there as I'm no expert, so I'll address your other question about empty Saberforge hilts for DIY projects.

Depending on the hilt, most of SaberForge's designs are modular to some extent now. If you do order an empty hilt for DIY projects, I'd suggest including a note in the order comments asking them not to glue the threaded portions together, because this is something that they do on most of their hilts, except for the pommel areas which are left unglued so you can access the battery/microSD cards.

I recently purchased an old Warrior level Justicar and completely gutted it to install different electronics, and that hilt was all one piece, it was not modular in any way except for the pommel which threaded off.

Hope this is useful to you! :)
