Hey all,

I just got my Exhalted in today. I tried installing the blade and it simply will not fit in there snuggly. No amount of tightening made a difference. It got to the point where it was in there as such that the wrapping on the inside was beginning to crinkle, but still it was wobbly and not at all fit for anything other than looking at.

It's pretty disheartening, honestly. I was really looking forward to this. Has anyone else had this problem, or might be able to shed some light on the situation? I'll attach some pictures so you get an idea of what I'm talking about.

You can see on the blade by the retention screw how far I was able to get it in before it started to wrinkle. I figured it would need to sit much deeper than that to be secure.

I think it's the inner ring of the emitter nozzle. I feel like it's too thick and stopping the blade from sitting the way it's supposed to.

I have five V3 blades that have shorter wrap inside to fit in the thin neck sabers, and I've found that some of the blades will work in all three of my thin neck sabers, while some of them are too tight and will only fit in one of my thin necks. It can be tricky, because if that particular polycarbonate tube is juuuuuuust a hair too thick, it can be difficult to insert and remove a blade. On the other hand, if the tube is juuuuuuuust a hair too thin, it can be wobbly.

However, in your particular case it looks like the film wrap itself is too long. Can you pull the wrap out a little and cut a just a bit of it off to make it a little shorter? Also, how long is your blade retention screw? It could be that they accidentally put in a crew that is too short to properly secure your blade. Let us know if any of this is helpful to you.

So I actually did take out the wrap on the inside and cut it a little shorter so that the blade could fit all the way down. I'll post a picture of the screw but I'm confident it's the right size. Now the problem I'm having is that just to secure the blade I have to tighten the screw far past my comfort level. Even then, after a few good hits while dueling, the blade becomes extremely wobbly. To the point where I'm afraid to use it for fear of snapping the blade off in things like saber locks and the like.

Is this just what having a thin neck saber is like? If so I hate it. The blade only get about an inch of security inside the emitter. Even a half an inch more would've been better, and a retention screw on both sides. As it is now it isn't very good for dueling. It's a shame because the hilt itself really is beautiful and I enjoy it's aesthetic but I didn't get it to look at, I got it to fight with.

Any tips would be nice.

Hmm, well that's definitely not good then. I duel almost exclusively with my Exhalted, and the blade has never gotten a bit wobbly, even with just an inch or so of insertion into the hilt.

I would contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and see if they can either provide you with a new blade or have you send it in with a RMA warranty form and ask them to test it/replace the emitter/drill a hole for a second blade retention screw. Their hilts are warrantied for full speed, full contact dueling, and if the saber you received is not performing properly then they should do their best to fix it for you. That's my suggestion.
