As far as I know none of the sabers require you to unscrew any threaded sections to access the LED and quick connects. The exception to this is the thin necks, which is why the thin necks are not compatible with quick disconnects. The idea is to unscrew the LED module retention screw, same way you would with a blade retention screw, and then the LED module slides up right out of the emitter, allowing you to unclip it and connect another LED module, slide it back into place in the hilt, and retighten the LED module retention screw.
As for the threaded sections, Phil doesn't want his sabers randomly unscrewing in customer's hands while dueling, as you all can well understand. So he has his texts glue the threaded portions of the hilt together (excluding the pommels, of course). For DIY projects, having the threads unglued ion your empty hilt s probably the most important thing to request.
But worst comes to worst, if you've already bought an empty saber for DIY and forgot to ask them to not glue the threads, you can always heat up the glued sections with a hair dryer to loosen the glue, and then grip the threaded sections with rubber gloves and twist them apart. I've done that before.
