That's exactly the kind of thinking prop builders out in Holywood use.

I remember watching a making of special on the "Aliens" movie back in the day, and they were showing how they used things like trash can lids, and tupperware containers for parts of the walls inside the ship.
I mean, the very first "lghtsaber" was a Gralfex 3-cell flash that was stumbled upon by accident and re-imagined.
