I live in the UK and my Avenger is at customs clearance. Do I have to pay the import charge baring in mind I've paid £45 for, basically, P&P?

Hi Ollie241189,

Just in case you don't know ParcelForce takes over from USPS and makes the actual delivery to your door.
I am UK based and received a saber in December, and had to pay a charge of around £17.This price may be slightly different than what you may be charged!
This is the Customs Charge and the processing fee from ParcelForce combined.
There is a link on the ParcelForce Tracking page enabling you to pay online with a credit card then it should be released for delivery.
I paid on the 23rd December and it was delivered 24th Dec. I've included 2 pics, the first shows the ParcelForce Tracking Page, the second the charges payment cconfirmation page.

I hope this helps,

Woah there.._.. Is this in every instance that you have to pay a customs charge or just the odd one? Say, most parcels go straight through and every now and again when they check a parcel there is a customs charge?

Hi Old Ben and Ollie241189,

I'm afraid I don't know if they let certain parcels through and charge others, I just know that I had to pay and fellow member Phin also had a fee to pay. I would ask another UK member who is a friend of mine but his sabers haven't arrived yet. Because ParcelForce take over the delivery (arranged by HMRC and the UK Government) our packages may get picked out a bit more, I don't know.

Sorry I can't be much more help,

Hi there,

I'm also uk based and had to pay a customs charge of £17 once the saber had arrived in the uk. I have had to do this a few times when ordering stuff from the US, not every time though. I think it depends on the package and what postage the sender has put on the package.
It's A Trap!

Hi MarcoFett,

Thanks for your information, I forgot to check North of the Border, sorry! I had read that a lot of people here in the UK don't like the situation because as I said earlier the Government chose ParcelForce to make our deliveries, so we can't choose a different company. I will say it cost less than I feared it might.

And to think the Chancellor of the Exchequer, has THREE Lucasfilm original saber's tucked away in the Houses of Parliament, a gift for letting the films be made here!

Oh well,

Hey guys,
I did wonder about this. I think it'll be due to the fact it has electronics in maybe as I had a saber stand delivered yesterday (the second one I ordered for the Bane I haven't even bought yet!!!) but I didn't have to pay a fee. Could be the size/weight of the parcel too.

A bit off if you ask me as the postage is about £36+ for shipping from the states.
