TOPIC: any word on the chosen release?

Had some questions regarding the new chosen saber looking to get my hands on it or one of the new apprentice builds.

1. When is the release?
2.what are the dimensions of this saber?
3. Will its release among the others be a permenant site run?
4. WIll i be able to get them on etsy?
5. How exactly are people able to get their hands on them this early? ive seen the tsl guys have it, jordan moll, and a few others able to pull away a model and im quite jealous.

Well, I can help with some of these.

1. When is the release?

We don't have a hard date on this, but SF employees have generally said "once ASP is launched." Since ASP rewards are supposed to be shipping out from SF in the next couple of weeks (knock on wood!), I would guess last week of Feb / first week of march.

2.what are the dimensions of this saber?

Not sure, but based on the other Apprentice hilts and seeing it in pictures next to a few of them, it probably is ~1.5" thick with a 1.25" ID for the internals, and looked about 11" long.

3. Will its release among the others be a permanent site run?

All of the apprentice tier sabers seem to be "permanent" additions, and even if they weren't, the high interest and demand for the Chosen seems like it'd be silly not to keep it around full time.

4. WIll i be able to get them on etsy?

Almost certainly. It seems like SF's general model right now (and this may change!!) is to release hilts on Etsy first, then the main site once they have been added to the main roster. I would bet the new apprentice hilts will be available in both places pretty quickly.

In the case of the TSL guys, I believe SF sent them the sabers so they could do "field testing" and get some buzz going. Marketing, basically.

Most of the other people I have seen reviewing or showing them off have either A) ordered through the showroom in Oregon and either picked them up there or had a friend get them and ship them out or bought them through the Custom shop and had additional customization done.

The only possible exception to that might be Jordan - since he has done a lot of great and thorough reviews of SF stuff, it wouldn't shock me if he emailed them to ask if he could buy them and do an early review, and they decided to go for it, again, to help drum up the buzz.

Since the Customs shop has closed commissions for now, if you don't live in Oregon (or have a friend who does!), I'm afraid you're stuck waiting with the rest of us.

Beyond that, I have seen a few people put them for sale on eBay already, and in one case there's a guy selling one on the Custom Facebook Owner's group because he needs to pay for a car repair, so you MIGHT be able to grab it if you don't want to wait.
