OK, so I just looked at the Etsy page and the initiate tier Bane has gone! Not only that but the 5 different finishes that were available has now been cut to just the 1 (black with silver pommel and shroud).
Why the change? I can see this wrecking plans of many people (myself included). I was literally just about to order and empty hilt as a shelf queen/future install project but now will have to wait another couple of weeks bbefore I can buy a warrior edition. Has this affected anyone else's plans? |

Chill dude, gotta chill. It's probably because they're already running out of the design and/or material. It IS a very popular saber and most likely that happened. As for the initiate missing, I don't know about that, sounds really weird to me. It's more of a technical error, very interesting indeed.

Phil stated on the FB page the other day, that the Etsy shop would be taking a vacation for awhile. As they sell through the current stock, they will not be replenishing for awhile. He went on to say that once they do begin to replenish the Etsy stock, there will be no option for changes - sort of an "off the shelf" model.

That makes sense, as the Etsy one is meant to be the faster shipping option if you didn't have tons of customization to have done.
Letting stock run down temporarily on Etsy as they restructure it internally also makes sense. |

Don't forget that an empty Bane was an ASP perk for those who pledged $700+. I'm pretty darn certain that's way it's been so scarce these past few months.
Also odd, the Juggernaut is back in the etsy shop but only available in warrior and up tiers.

Personally I'm glad that SF has decided to put their Etsy shop in vacation mode, it's a sensible response to the bloated queue times.

Initiates were pulled from Etsy because of a growing percentage of people not understanding the Initiate tier, and what it was, and opening cases/posting negative reviews/threatening the integrity of the Etsy shop -- too many cases, and Etsy can and will close the shop. We don't want that to happen, obviously, so cuts had to be made. Despite the fact that these listings were quite clear in what was being offered, people were not paying attention and purchasing Initiates, then opening cases claiming their orders were not complete, etc.
So in this case, it is literally a case of a few bad apples ruining an orchard.

I wonder if maybe they could do an etsy coupon code (like EMPTYSABER or ImNotAnIdiot) that could reduce the cost of a warrior tier item to an initiate one, and when they look at the invoice they'll know to only pack an empty hilt. Although this could lead to people accidentally getting a free upgrade if it gets overlooked. I know a lot of people liked etsy because they could use multiple forms of payment and PayPal; maybe they could implement either of those into the main site (I understand that this isn't that simple of a request though). |

For whatever reason PayPal is not an option on the main site. I can only hope that changes in the future or I'll be waiting for a long time to save up for at least a Warrior tier saber of some kind, international shipping, and customs costs. I will never own a credit card again. I don't believe in paying on loan.
Unless I get a prepaid credit card somewhere that can go that high. |
