Hi all. I just received my 2x acolytes last saturday. Both are supposedly artic blue. However, I noticed that 1 of the blades tend to shift to teal, unlike the other one which stayed consistent until the tip. Is this color difference normal?

Are they fully charged? I've heard of blades changing color as the battery drains.

^This. LED dies in the cooler ranges (like blues and greens) need a higher voltage (probably not the right term for this, someone please correct me) than warmer colors (like amber and red), so their colors will change slightly as the battery drains.

This is reason why a yellow blade would have more of a green tinge when fully charged and more of an amber one when the battery is low.

Edit: i tried fully charging it but the blue is still not consistent until the tip, but the greenish part did decrease. Funny thing is, the other one stayed blue till the tip.

Any other possible causes?

Maybe the lens is off-kilter

I noticed some issues with the RGBA mixing in my hero tier that sounds similar to what you're describing, but I've been attributing it to the weaker LED strength in conjunction with a 36" blade. I'm assuming it's something like this where the color at the base is clearly different from the tip:

Since you have two similar sabers, there's a bit of troubleshooting possible here. If you swap the blade between sabers, is there a difference? On the one that shows the issue, is there any type of obstruction or difference in the LED module? You can look at it in the emitter while the plug and blade are removed, and comparing both would reveal any glaring differences in how clean/well oriented the lens is. There is a little tab on one end of the lens; I'm wondering if that being positioned closer to one of the blue LEDs would cause some issues in mixing? I may do some experimenting with that when I get home.

Also: Do NOT have the LED on when you look directly in if you'd like to keep your vision as-is. Just take a peek in like this:

I agree that it's probably a misalignment between the lens and LED, but swapping the blades is easy and would be a good thing to double-check. I can't see how it would have happened, but there could even be something on the lens.

I was really tired the other day, and looking in my saber at the LED, and thought, "Hey, I wonder what a multi-die LED looks like when it's on?" Fortunately, my brain caught up just before my thumb hit the button. I'd probably STILL be seeing spots!

This, the "cooler" colors fade out a lot quicker as the energy drops, red is the easiest for the human eye to see as well, so sith blades always appear brighter then jedi blades...

But that is also because in order to have a truly red blade you must first embrace all that is evil....

Hi guys, so I tried doing what you guys recommended.

I tried swapping blades, and as expected it is still the same.

Here is a photo of the blade colors side by side.

Then, to see if it was actually the color that was different. I took of the blade and shone both at the wall. The result was, both are indeed different.

So is this considered a 'problem'? Frankly, I prefer both blades to be the same color, and consistent until the tip.
