Hi Darth_ludacris,

Here is a repost of an old message of mine..
For Tyeth wrote:
Talking of birthdays takes me back to my first saber. I say saber, it was a modified flashlight, no sound just a torch and a tube. Obviously everyone wanted a saber back when ROTJ came out, and a friend of mine had one his mother brought back from the States, and it was licensed very cool. But it was a white blade. What about mine you ask, well Dec 17 arrived (Yes Dec 17! haha) and I received my birthday saber, but it too was white, but while devouring chocolates meant for Christmas, the Force called to me. One of the chocolates was wrapped in green, and the wrapper was TRANSPARENT, it shone at me. I carefully unwrapped it and flattened the sheet out so it was about 2inches square. I had a brainwave and unscrewed my saber and stretched the wrapper over the reflector bowl of the bulb creating a filter, then screwed the saber back together. You could not imagine how I felt when I ignited my blade and it lit up EXACTLY like Luke Skywalker's, beautiful and green. I was invited to a Christmas Lightsaber party and we all brought our blades. The room was blackened and my friend with his American saber lit his first (his party!), then everyone else lit theirs. Then my turn (and I'm slightly ashamed to say I took great pleasure from this, but I was 8 yrs old) and the room just went silent as the room turned green. I became quite popular suddenly as the others took turns playing with my saber.
I know this makes me old, but does it make me evil or just misguided?

P.S. I have a 12w Grn Disciple on order in tribute.

I am now the proud owner of that 12W Green Champion Disciple.
I hope this is the sort of story you were looking for,

Oh man lets go back a few years, 2002 to be precise.

My brother and I, we are twins, got our first 'real' lightsaber. We had gotten the Hasbro ones before, but these bad boys were lit and had sound. I forget exactly what they were but it they were Obi-Wans lightsaber from AotC and Count Dooku's from the same film. Man we had so much, the lightsabers were bigger than than us and it was like we were wielding giant claymores. My mom has a picture of it stored somewhere, she put it in our graduation slideshow. Anyway, that's the story of my first 'true' saber.

  • Attatchment is forbidden. Possesion is forbidden. Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, essential to a jedi's life. So you might say, that, we are encouraged to love.

It was 2001 and I became interested in getting prop lightsaber and buying a Jedi costume (the later finally happened last year). I bought a replica Graflex on eBay and bought a kit someone was selling to turn a Graflex into a replica ANH saber. Basically it was just sticking the wiper blades on for the rubberized grips. I still have this lightsaber today and it's ultimately what I wore to the TFA release since my ASP hadn't arrived yet.
ASP Kickstarter Backer!
Sabers owned:
  1. Hilt-only ANH Luke
  2. 1 ASP single blade[Ordered]
  3. Venom standard(Wife's)

My first saber was actually a toy version of Qui-Gon's saber with the spring loaded blade that I bought for my son. It was not long after I took him to see The Phantom Menace, and the look on his face when he saw it was priceless. Through the years, he also got the toy versions of the Luke ANH, Vader ANH, and Darth Maul's staff. When he was old enough to think ahead a little, he pooled his birthday, Christmas, and whatever other occasion funds, and bought an Initiate v3 from Ultrasabers.

I had my doubts about this whole thing, but when I saw it first hand, I knew he was on to something that I had been oblivious to, until that moment. There were good quality combat sabers that were bright, loud, and tough! That led to my getting another one from US for myself, which was a Raven (because I liked the Starkiller-like design), and through an error in ordering, I actually ended up with two. Since I could not get a full refund for the second one, I returned it (minus the restocking fee, of course), and got one of their Archon 2.1 sabers, because it was the closest thing out there at the time to the thin-neck that I always wanted in my heart of hearts. I really liked that saber, and it's MHS compatibility gave it the ability to have the emitter, neck, and pommel changed out at will to create many different versions of the same saber...but even with all of that I knew that it just was not quite what I really wanted.

Then last year, after salivating over the Exhalted in the Saberforge catalog for months, I finally bought one for my birthday. It arrived 12 weeks later and...well the rest is pretty much in my review of that saber. I will add that, even though it was not "technically" my first saber, it was the one I always wanted, and it counted the most for me.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

Ok, well although a toy saber. My first saber was when I was 5 years old from Hasbro. No lights, no sound card, didn't pop up. Just a black handle and a long green plastic tube. It had some little vent in it that made a saber sound when you sung the thing.

Best freaking toy in the world.

My first saber was a MR FX Anakin/Luke, which I still have. Purchased in 2004 (Ithink, don't hold mr to that.) from Best Buy. I even still have the original box it came in.
I am chaos in order's guise.
