Hi, I am brand new to saberforge and I recently bought a US Graflex CE. I got interested to see what other people thought of the hilt and saber. Then, I found a interesting website topic saying some things about ultrasabers that I had never heard about. I found after I had made a huge mistake, now I want to buy a saberforge saber, however, I just made a order from US that I cannot cancel and be refunded. The order was $500+ and I was wondering when the big sales for SF will come that will bump the price down a lot.

I am not sure I have ever read anything about sabrforge having sales.

If you would introduce yourself in the new user thread and acknowledge the rules in the faqs, I know the mods will appreciate it.

They have not actually run sales per se, for quite some time. Mainly because a sale tends to produce a spike of orders, and SaberForge has been SO busy for the last 6 months (with no signs of slowing) that they have not run any specials.

However, their Initiate tier sabers are very reasonably priced, and their ASP (Adaptive Saber Parts) program is going to be going live in a month or two, which will provide the ability for folks to use their 3-d modeling tool (located at www.saberparts.com) to create their own saber, and order than exact saber. This would allow someone to get a reasonably priced saber, and then let their budget dictate whether or not to go the whole 9 yards on sound, etc.

You actually have options among the currently available offerings as well. You can get just the hilt with no electronics for a pretty reasonable price, and upgrade it later. You can get it with just the LED, and upgrade it later.

So, while there are no sales going on, or on the near horizon that we are aware of, you do have some pricing options that should accommodate your needs.

If you have questions, just ask. We have a very helpful community here! Also, don't forget to go by the "Welcome and FAQ" section of the forum, and introduce yourself.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

I'm sorry to hear about your dilemna dude. Right now, there aren't any news about a sale going on, unfortunately. That's because it would be too expensive and chaotic with ASP going on as well as all the new releases coming up. A sale would probably make lead times go up again and SF is working on bring it down.
I'm not such a fun of Ultrasabers considering how...simple their warranty is. Their Graflex CE I didn't like because it doesn't look hardly close to the real Graflex, instead I (along with many others) decided to get a Graflex 2.0 kit from Korbanth and Parks sabers. I'm still waiting for Shameem to reopen business this month so I can send it to him for an install.

I mean, I don't know if there will be any sales anytime soon. But, if you order, at least you can cancel and be refunded in something more useful than store credit, though there's still that "restocking" (restocking what? They haven't made the thing yet) fee. So if you change your mind, at least you can have most of your money back.

And be warned, though: There are those who hate Saberforge just as much as Ultrasabers, or more. If you've read bad things about Ultrasabers, you'll at some point read bad things about Saberforge. Whether you believe it or not is up to you, and from my point of view it seems that the things they complain about are behind this company, but I just wanted to let you know that those are out there who will say anything they can to denounce both companies.
The above post may be subject to editing. A lot of editing.

Yeah, Saber Forge really doesn't need to have a sale to drive sales, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

If you're feeling frisky then step-up, challenge and tempt caution. Big Red has precision accuracy with his aim and you'll feel the pain from both end's of the Hammer.
What would your action to do so achieve? Why make ripples to spite the placid waters of serenity?

Through different interpretation of Sales, Saberforge is having one as we speak. Not all Sales include a reduction in price. Coined as (and often referred to) 'The No-Discount Sale', Retail store's do this often.
Let's not forget Saberforge introduced a New Apprentice line-up and of notable mention, the success of ASP, promotes innovation through demonstration of their successes and expansion.

If anything, now is a great time to buy much like any other.

Yes, as my dear friend here has stated, go with caution discussing controversy on the forum, it isn't forbidden but it is frowned about. We respect ALL companies here regardless of their business practices.

The couple of times I've seen SF have a sale, it has been more of a "spend X amount and get Y" deal than a straight price cut.

More than that, as an amature designer I have looked at all the high end saber companies and SF has the best design astetics of all of them.

Agreed. Aside from some custom ones by Rob Petkau (GCS), most other saber companies' hilts look like generic sci-fi weapons. SF's look like they could have come from a canon source.

The one off saber vendors aren't in the same column. They also go for several thousand per saber.

schmots, out of genuine curiosity, " which may get me in trouble today" how do you quantify that?

In my opinion I agree, solid variety and beautiful in many cases. Though that's subjective

@OvrcAHst. it's kinda sad that in asking what the heck is going on can get someone banned. I made no speculation on SF, I was alluding to US being skeevy. If it is all from that video cry baby, who has complained about something/anything involving sabers no matter the vendor? Then it's simply saying Videobabybritt boy needs to take his meds, the crazy just radiates from the dude. All I Know about SF is that they make some badass sabers, their CSRs are good and the only complaint is that I'm getting the D-rings are only custom line. Which is frustrating, because I have nerve dmg and the covertech can be a pain. I'd really rather not drop my saber because I can't "feel" the covertech attach correctly. And I assume big red is Mr.Isherwood?
Hey big red I could really use your assistance on the D-ring thing? please? You guys are making super sabers and i wish mine were here yesterday.jk.. Kind of i really need my Precious. @OvrcAHst, I caved on the first comment
tm bruce banner. lol

"Big Red" refers to the head mod Kynitri.

As for the D-ring issue, there's actually a pretty simple solution. SF's covertec knobs are held on by a screw, and that same screw could be used to attach a D-ring from TCSS like this

to your hilt.

EDIT: here's a photo of user Zeddicuus' saber with the d-ring I mentioned above using the covertec knob's screw

The mass production vendors, 50 or more of the same style or mix and match parts, most of them are just simple turns on a lathe. No complex or interesting cuts in any of the bodies, pummels, emitters etc.

I have several hilts from US and enjoy their products, but I'm also excited about my upcoming SF sabers. It is easily possible to be a fan of BOTH companies. I know there are other users here and on the US forums that own both US and SF sabers.

Definitely possible to be a fan of both, just as you can be a fan of both SW and ST. I chose SF over US because I was more comfortable with their manufacturing techniques (soldering over hot glue), but that is a personal preference, and the Grey weathered Gladius called to me.So with Saber Forge I am.

Sadly trolls exist on all forums and similar fan based venues. One of the few ways to get rid of them is to ignore them, and starve them of the attention they crave.
