If you'd like to learn spinning or saber "tricks", another thing to consider is the blade length. It is possible to do with a full 37" blade, but it can make the saber a bit top heavy when trying to perform maneuvers. Many people opt for 32" or 26" blades for these applications.

And while I think Snakeeyz99's suggestion of a yellow Bastion is great, I would also suggest the Gladius hilt. It is famous for its ease of handling for both dueling and spinning, especially with a 32" blade. And for a white or yellow blade, Standard Finish with a brown stingray wrap would look great.

Brax's suggestion of getting familiar with some of the "buzz words" of the hobby is a good idea, just so you can better understand your options.

No way you're getting Red with filters on an SF Yellow hilt.

That said, yellow filters on a white blade make for an awesome yellow immune to color-shift while minimally dimming the blade.

@Brax Are QC available on all models? Getting conflicting info

I know they are not available on thin-neck models (Exhalted, Prodigal Son, Redeemer), and I had heard that the Bane did not offer them, but that last part is unconfirmed on my part.

@Kouri, A dark red wouldn't give you the Red/orange that most manufactures use? So white is really the best/only choice with filters? Thanks bud

Be careful with color disks. From what I have heard in the past, the heat from a 12w LED can make them bubble, or melt. Again, that was a while back, and things might have changed since then, but I would check before attempting to use them.

Filters block light, they don't create it. White puts out full-spectrum, so, as long as you're willing to dim the blade, you can get any color out of it.

SF Yellows are made with Amber and Green LEDs, so you can only filter between Orange and Green. Reds and Blues aren't possible.

If this was another company that made Yellow blades with Red and Green LEDs, then you could use a Red filter to block the Green light and make a Red blade.

Brax, Thanks for the heads up, I'm asking around to see if the heat resistant ones will work (filters, disks suck out so much brightness)
Kouri, Thanks man. I was trying to figure out why they'd be called filters, when they were talked about like additives. Confused the hell out of me. Trying to find a solution to the drab US white led. Other than buy another led, which is most likely the only real choice

My first purchase hilt was an Adegan Silver grab bag with color discs.

One yellow and one amber disc make a beautiful golden yellow without dimming the blade *too* much, and the hard plastic discs should be more heat-resistant than the thin Lee/Rosco filters.

Sadly, that yellow's the only good color you can get with the discs, which is why most folks go for the Lee filters.

The yellow does come out very nice, kind of an old Batman yellow. imo

I'm thinking about buying my first saber, but i don't know which hilt i want (They are all to amazing) I want my blade to be either yellow or white. Which hilt do you guys think would be best suit that?

I would say take a read of as many as you can the saber reviews posted in this forum (members have shared nearly every single saber currently on offer by SF). There are many excellent reviews, photos, youtubes and opinion by other members. This should give you a very good idea based on first hand experience of owners. And it is better to ask specific questions about particular hilts. Generalizations can give you a broad idea, though important, may not realize your specific needs. You did mention which ".... would best suit" and this often comes down to particulars.

Have fun deciding! And patience is also needed!

How about the Consular in 12w+ Yellow or White? No pointy parts and has a great design for learning tricks and whatnot. And being an apprentice saber it won't destroy your wallet.

I found a decent orange--I think it was the darker orange and the darker red--but you need a tri-Cree and a short blade to make the brightness reasonable.

I also made a very pretty green--roughly a kelly green--by stacking a bunch of filter discs, but even with tri-Cree and 24" blade it's hilariously dim. Somewhere between basic toy saber and Ultimate FX saber in brightness.
