My friend, you have asked a question that nobody can really answer for you. However, we can help you make an informed decision, based your responses to questions that we will ask to find out more about what you are looking for.

So, the most basic one would be - Are you planning to use this saber more for display, cosplay, dueling, or a combination of all of the above?

If you have access to photoshop, you could save a few pictures of the hilts you like most with blades, and adjust the hue or saturation to make the blade yellow or white. Since most hilts are in some sort of silver and black finish, it shouldn't affect the color of the hilt that much. That's what I did when I wanted to see what a Bastion would look like with a mint green blade.

Are there any that appeal to you? As Brax has stated, we can only guide you to a decision. So a hilt from the StarWars universe or a Factory design. PLEASE, throw us a BONE!!!!!!!

I would rather a factory design. No crystal or sharp points like the juggernaut.

We all have our favorites, and it would be easy for any one of us to convince you that the one we like, is the one you should like. But, we want you to get the saber that really calls to you! Let's face it...this is not an inexpensive hobby, and the wait time for them is 2 1/2 to 3 months; so just from a practical perspective, you really don't want to start having second thoughts during your wait.

We can, and will help you, but it's going to be a process of Q&A until we start getting towards something tangible. Then the more detailed questions will help you decide on the minute features, so you can measure your desires against the total cost.

This could be really fun! B)

OK, that actually eliminates quite a few. Things like the Fury, Desciple, Sinister Prophecy, and Venomous Prophecy all have rather sharp points.

What is left then are regular, full aperture emitters vs. thin-neck. Thin-necks would be the Chosen, Exhalted, Prodigal Son, and Redeemer. The thin-necks have the LED under that smaller opening, meaning that the light has to pass through a smaller area, is therefore a little less bright. The upside to them is that they have a very distinctive, classic look to them, so folks (like me) consider the small decrease in brightness to be absolutely worth it. The full aperture emitters would be pretty much everything else, where the blade sits right on top of the LED, so there is no loss in brightness. There are many different styles here, and ALL of them are great.

So, we are still considering a great many sabers, but if you can figure out if you want a thin-neck, or not we will be able to close in a little on the area where we need to concentrate.

That would include most Champion level sabers, with the exception of the Grand Master which starts off a little higher due to the complexity of its design.

Under $500 with sound. Colour changing would be cool, but not absolutely necessary.

Personal taste only, accounting for budget, color, and a closed custom shop, I'd personally go for a 12W+ yellow weathered Champion tier Bastion. The saber is an apprentice so it's a bit cheaper and smaller, probably better for a one-handed spinner or an off-hand dueler. Out of all the apprentice sabers I love the bastion, so that's my bias poking through, but I think the yellow with a darker hilt and the Bastion's vents would look fantastic.

Assuming you're in the US that's ~355.00 with shipping. If you want color changing, the absolute minimum is $545 with the recent price changes.

@Superswagger. I've heard some good things about color filters. Obviously they will cut some light out, they appear to have way better results than the plastic discs, another saber manufacturer makes. So if you buy yellow you should be able to get Red, Amber and maybe Green?

Quick connects are small connectors placed between the power supply, and the LED, that allow the wires to separate, and be connected to another LED unit with the same connectors.

You might want to go through the FAQ to familiarize yourself with other aspects of ordering, configuration, and "buzz words" used in the process. Lot of good information there, that will answer a lot of questions before you knew you wanted to ask them. :)
