Hello Saber Forge Forum! I am thinking about buying a Hero tire Bane saber and was really in need of some "guidance" if one could call it that. What I want to know is just how difficult will it be to install the sound-fonts, adjust the flicker rate, clash sensitivity, etc. Any help is accepted and appreciated. Thank you.

My hero tier is on order so I don't have experience yet, but from what I've read , the sound font installation should be simple enough. Download the desired font(s), copy them on to the SD card that comes with the hero tier sabers, select the font, and go. The other settings can be similarly modified. Those options can also be modified from the hilt itself, through specific use of the switches and gestures.
I am chaos in order's guise.

Specific to your query, the following two Videos should assist you. Bassius' Hero Bane Review Thread can be found here.

The following Video, whilst demonstrating Spark Color, has a similar user interface to Spark Color 2 (soundboard used in Hero Tiers). Ryusui's Descent can be found in the Forums Review Section also but as it's not a Bane, didn't link it here.

Enjoy your time here. :)

Proud owner of a Hero Fury. To change the files you'll need to be able to pull the microSD card from the pommel and connect it to a computer. The microSD slot is mounted next to the battery, just under the speaker in the pommel of the hilt. Removing the card is easy enough, I usually pop it out with my retention screw allen wrench then pull it with some needle nose pliers (my large fingers can't grab the card directly). Whether you use a built-in slot on your computer or an external SD card reader to access the files depends on your computer.

It's a really simple process to change soundfonts and LED settings. For the light flicker rate etc. you just load up the Spark saber settings program (Provided on the SD card IIRC, or you can snag it from Naigon's website). The settings are just drop-down menus there.

Sounds are a bit more complicated, depending on what you want. The saber only accepts 22050Hz mono .wav soundfiles. Luckily Naigon's program also has a conversion tool that covers the mono and bitrate portions, so you just need to have .wav files on hand. If the saber tries to play a sound that is not formatted correctly the soundboard will crash and will require a reboot (plug and pull the kill key). Not harmful to the electronics, but a little jarring when it happens.

I generally prefer pulling the SD card to change the settings since I'm not a fan of the onboard menu system.

Just be sure to get the proper format for your soundboard (NEC in this case), as the NEC boards have an onboard soundmixer, so each sound is separate, while Plector Labs boards' don't, so the ignition/retraction, clash and swing sounds have to have the hum sound mixed into the end of them.

It's also worth noting that the application used to edit the ini files on the SD card is Windows Only at the moment. I am primarily a Mac household and that did present some challenges, but nothing that we weren't able to overcome. There was a thread recently that discussed this: HERE

Good point. My family is more Mac focused as well; the only PCs we have are an early 2000s Gateway laptop and desktop.
