So as the title says me and my son who turns 5 in November are about to order his frist saber. I showed him the apprentice line and asked which one he wanted his reply was "all of them" though I can't blame him my wallet says otherwise. Which saber do you all think is best for a 5 years old? I got a 2014 epoch that's he's absolutely obsessed with but at the moment it's my only one until my bastion ships that will be his temporary saber until he gets his. It's going to be hard letting him use the bastion it looks so fun to spin. Also Im going to get him the shoto blade but do you all think I should cut the blade a few inches I've never spun or dueled with a 26 inch blade?

I would stay away from the Acolyte and Disciple. They're great designs but the emitter forks are Sharp. Personally I'd favor the Oracle. By choosing a wrap it's a little extra icing on the cake. 26" Blade should be fine IMO.

Thanks Otto. I'll never get him to decide on a wrap lol he is very indecisive. We spent 40 minutes deciding on what color led he wanted.

I own a Consular it's a cool good saber, but aesthetically doesn't offer alot. As far as the wrap on the Oracle, maybe Dad can make a descion based on the color and sound font you get. Textured wraps are the way to go IMO. Bronze/Black/Brown/Cobalt/Crimson stingray, or Black/Brown reptile. My 2 cents, good luck with your purchase. MTFBWY.

I am a big fan of the Bastion lately. No wrap to worry about, and no sharp points.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

I got my son (who was also five at the time) a Consular. It works well for him because it is a small saber. And as a bonus, it does not have anything that will break off of it. I also ended up buying another one for him to use as a staff.... That was a bad idea.

My son also just turned 5 and I got him his first saber. While it wasn't a SaberForge saber, for the money and for a kid's use, this ONE is pretty damn good

It pretty much has everything you'd want from a Warrior or Champion tier saber, but for $50. It has motion activated noises, on hit clash sounds and flash, and can be either blue or red (with a "struggle" to choose a side if the on switch is held down). This let's him trial one out and get a feel for it, and then as he get's older and develops more of an understanding for how they work and what his own "style" is, I'll eventually get him his own SaberForge one.

Now I just need my own saber so that we can duel together...waiting for ASP to get the "bugs out" from this initial run, and hopefully add more options. Otherwise I might breakdown and get one of the Elites...

I think this is a great idea, but please keep in mind that the windowed pommel section at the bottom of the hilt will not be part of the staff. Just wanted to make sure you knew. The first time I saw it I thought the same thing, but it's not obvious looking at it that the entire windowed section at the bottom is the pommel.

Honestly I am jealous, unfortunately my father does not like Star Wars, he tolerates it but, it isn't is cup of tea, per say, I can't imagine 5 year old me with a Lightsaber, it would have totally thrown me into the world and got me more interested than I was at the time (sadly to say I was not super interested) that is so awesome that all you guys got your sons Sabers, have fun, but be careful, my uncle has a 5 year old son and they have sabers, not from Saberforge, but the son beats the dad 9 times out of 10 because he is small and agile. stI'll be careful with the duel, but know that they might practice with it more than you can, so they might win a lot
