Empty hilt wait times? 4 months 1 week ago #61262

Anyone have any idea how long a wait for empty hilts might be from the sf website? I'm pissed they aren't available as empties on the etsy any more. I was only ordering 4 hills and 5 blades and some covertec knobs.

Anyone able to shed some light? Provided there's no work to be done (all in standard finish no wraps or anything) I would think the could pop them right in a box and Ship it or once the order was read (I'm no fool I figure it would take them a few days to actually read the order.)

Thank you!

Same amount of time as a regular hilt. Hilts are made in batches (it's more efficient) so empties don't get a jump in the queue.

Too many people were buying the empties and then complaining about them not having electronics so etsy's CS asked SF to stop selling them.

They come w/covertecs so you don't have to buy them separately.

As h2soy said, the hilts are batch made, so they have to get near your order in the timeline of when stuff was ordered, be building a new batch of those sabers and make the full batch (however many that is) If you ordered an empty it will likely also be held while the next shipping batch is filled, which I believe is how they give the hilts to USPS. Any left over hilts from the batch that weren't actually ordered get sold on etsy, and electronics fitted as ordered.

Yes, they could sell them empty on etsy, but what I didn't know was what h2soy has just commented, that people were likely buying them, not reading properly or whatever, and expecting a hilt with electronics, and then complaining to etsy about it, which means they can't be sold without any electronics anymore.

Really, it is quite an efficient process, ensuring that any extra hilts from the batch can be passed on quickly to people who don't want to wait the several weeks for theirs to be built, but it is essentially luck based if the saber a person will want will have spares that can be sold on etsy.

Leave it to stupid people to complain not being able to read, and getting the wrong product.

I have some other sabers without covertec knobs, I was ordering some spares, since I was placing an order here, rather than elsewhere with extra shipping costs. I know that they have covertec knobs, as it says they come with them blade plugs and fake switches on the empty hilt pages.

Thanks for your responses!

No probelm, and yeah, it is rather crappy that because people can't understand they're getting an empty they can't be sold there anymore, but it is what it is. The wait time may be long, but I'm sure even with an empty it will be worth it, as you can then customise your saber exactly how you want it :)

I actually went in to the store to order my ASP and was told 1-2 weeks even for an "in store" purchase.
I'm hoping to get a text for pickup soon.
Yes, the hilt will be an empty, I like to do my own installs.

It's just sad. I have 4 sabers coming from a smith, ordered in January... and two are almost done...

I was really hoping for a couple of weeks turnaround for some empties, I have everything I need to build them otherwise :(
