The lead times are quite misleading. I placed my order on Dec 23.

It was confirmed on the same day.

Nothing changed until Jan. 31 when I got the notification that my saber shipped. I got a tracking number.

Since getting the tracking number, it has not changed from "Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS, USPS Awaiting Item" It is now Feb 17.

The shipping is on Priority Shipping. I have shipped through USPS priority before and it does not take 17 days for an item to be updated or received. I know that sometimes USPS is at fault for not updating the status, but 17 days have passed and my saber is still not here. Almost two months now!

It seems that SaberForge is misleading people with their lead times and production process.

Just a word lf caution then: just because you have a shipping info or tracking number does not necessarily mean you're getting your saber any time soon.

Have you contacted CS to query the status of your order? It sounds like something unusual has happened with your order. If you haven't contacted SF about it you should do so ASAP if you're still concerned.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I haven't ordered a full build on the new site yet so as mentioned below, the pre-shipment notice is likely your order going into the build queue. It's only taken 1-3 days for my orders do go from pre-shipped to shipped, but that was just with ASP parts and blade plugs / kill keys.

Let's please refrain from assuming ill intent, especially if you have have not inquired of Customer Support what the possible cause could have been. I can assure you that Saberforge is not intentionally misleading anyone about anything. However, things happen behind the scenes, and until we ask, we won't know what happened. B) :)
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

yes as I said in earlier post when your order goes to shipped you got an email that tells you it means it is assigned a tracking number but it is not shipped yet it is actually in production and that can take up to another 15 business days.

Your order status is: Shipped
Your order has transitioned into our production queue! Please allow 5-15 business days (Monday-Friday excludes holidays) for us to complete final installation and quality control checks. Your USPS tracking number for this order is xxxxxxxxxxxx. As soon as your order physically ships out, your tracking number will update!

So please relax it sounds a little strange but these waits are what happens when each saber is handmade. deep breath and all will be well.

I certainly did not mean for any ill intent. This is the fourth saber that I am ordering from SaberForge and I have come back to them again and again.

Though I wonder why the process is in such a way that the shipping info would be created in between the production process when installation still has to be done and quality control checks need to be made.

I could be wrong, but:

I believe the shipping info email is an auto generated note when the order is basically entered into the system for fulfillment. Saberforge is generating a shipping label at this point. Other suppliers do basically the same thing.

It's just a limitation of the webstore / e-commerce site that SF uses. Fairly common since most are developed for "receive order, pick item off shelf, ship item" type businesses rather than a "made to order" business like SF and other saber companies. It's actually nice that it does use that step, otherwise there'd be no notice of entering build queue. Some vendors just have "Awaiting fulfillment" and then "Completed" when it ships.

YAY!

Finally received my Weathered Venomous Fury Warrior Edition this thursday.
It was ordered on december the 25th and I live in France.

The only issue is that I didn't ask specifically for an european battery wall charger, so I received an US one.
Note for people: Ask for it :D
(well, an 84 additional € for customs charge too... )

This is my first light saber and it's great, thanks to saberforge!

Well that's unexpected. The tracking number says not only was the label printed, but it's been picked up and is now in transit. I was thinking it would be another week or two before mine would be shipped and the notice yesterday was just them putting it into production. Especially since I ordered a couple pieces to be powder coated. I put this thing in on 1/24, so it's been 4 weeks and it's already done even with powder coating.

Come on USPS, get me my saber. The last couple weeks have been crap, so I need this.

Question for those that have ordered recently. I got a confirmation email today showing a tracking # and on Saberorges website it shows fulfilled. Does this mean it has (or is) shipping or does it mean it is in que for production? It has been 3 1/2 weeks since the order... Trying not to get too excited... So hard not to though  :silly:

I got the email, and then the tracker showed that it was picked up and on it's way the next day. Hopefully yours is as well. I hope that this helps.

Basically it means your order has now entered the build queue.

From the FAQ thread:

"(1) Ordering from the Website, Saberforge.com. When you order from the website, you will get a confirmation email, then nothing else until the saber goes to the build queue. When its time has come, you will receive a shipping notice, and be provided the tracking number. However--this does not mean your saber has actually SHIPPED. It has just been added to the build queue. It will take approx. 5 - 10 Business Days for the saber to be completed. Once the batch has been built, they will ship out. This can happen any day of the week. Saberforge smiths have recently transitioned from 4 10s to 5 8s shifts, and some are working some serious overtime regardless to produce as many hilts as possible every day."
