Hey guys, I was thinking about it and I really love the consular hilts, and if you haven't heard yet I plan on getting a black finish consular, or so I thought until I came up with this idea. First of all I should tell you that it is hard for me to be patient, so I was considering getting an indigo standard finish consular off etsy. But that got me thinking, what if I got that then when the customs shop came back on I got an all black one and made it a staff? Kinda like a Jedi who is unsure what side he is really on. THEN (it gets better) I thought what if instead of all black I asked to get the colors inverted (like so where there would be black on a standard one there was silver and vice versa)? So that got my gears going and I was wondering first of all what you guys think, then I was wondering if anyone could help me by making an image of what this inverted consular hilt might look like so I can see if it looks any good. Last, I was wondering if you guys thought that they would/ would be able to do that for me... Thanks for the input

For a "reverse" dual tone finish, they might not be able to achieve that with anodizing the whole hilt black and then stripping it off in certain areas using a lathe like they do with the regular dual tone and weathered finishes (it be pretty difficult to get any sanding implement into those thin recessed areas below the switch holes). It would probably have to be powder coated (which SFCS offers); that way they could mask off the areas you want to remain silver.

Design wise, I think it would be interesting, especially if you have two different blade colors. You could even say that they are sabers that you wield individually and then connect into a staff depending on your opponent(s).

In any case, make sure you get either 32" or even the 26" blades. 37" blades would be too top heavy for this hilt, and in a staff configuration it would be too unwieldy.

This ^^ idea seems sound and achievable however will only return success (as you've noted) from Customs when Commissions are accepted again. The inverted/reversed Dual Tone was a concept our Admin Brax had conceived (or equally shared a desire to apply for his Consular) and aimed to realise even if it didn't come to fruition. As for the look, not entirely accurate but I'm sure you can imagine the general result, the following was done in MSPaint rather primatively with 2 clicks of the Mouse button.

I'm sure someone proficient with advanced use of a better editing program could achieve a more accurate render.

True, I asked for this exact color scheme in the order notes for my Consular back in mid-March. This was before I was aware that that level of customization was no longer available from Main Site orders. However, I believe that color combination would look fantastic on a Consular, so I hope someone gets it done when the Custom shop opens for that type of business again.

For some reason my previous reply to jaden didn't come through so let me sum it up, I completely agree with everything in your first paragraph that is why I was wondering if it would even be possible, but maybe they would powder coat it. I was thinking of doing 2 indigos on the sabers (I am unfortunately obsessed with the indigo color) but getting qcs so I can change it if it doesn't look good. And I was planning on getting 32" blades then if they didn't work well in the staff getting 26" after.

OvrcAHst, I was really hoping it would be achievable because I was loving my idea a lot, I thought of the inverting the colors and since I am on an iPhone I just went to the picture and triple clicked the home button and got that, I didn't think it looked right at the time but looking at it now it looks pretty good, thanks!

Brax, that is really funny that we had the same idea, I guess great minds think alike huh? Anyways I hope that they can do that for you and then I will know when I am getting mine. What color did you get with it??

Mine came with a standard finish, which is fine. I still love the look of the saber.

This is such a good idea that multiple people have thought of maybe Saberforge will take notice and make it an option. I must say, I like this A LOT and much better than the standard finish. If you guys figure out a way to make this happen, I will definitely pile on!

And Hot Rod, yah I was thinking that other sabers might look pretty good with the "reverse finish" (
