So was having a look at the website last night, adding all the hilts I'd like to buy to the cart to see the amount of money I'd need to buy them all (anyone else do this?)

Anyway, I went to add the avenger and noticed it's base price was $50 more expensive than every other @ $199.

Does anyone know why this is?
I'm not complaining or anything, just curious.

I'm not entirely sure, but I know the Grand Master is also $50 more expensive than the other Elite sabers, which is because the GM takes more work to produce, so I would assume the same goes for the Avenger.

Hopefully it's not an indicator of prices being increased again but it's not a very good sign considering they opted to have all hilts of the same level at the same price.

Maybe it is because it's more work to produce but I could have sworn it wasn't always more expensive. Maybe I'm wrong and never noticed before though

The more intricate the design, the higher the price. I have not checked the site to verify, but if it has gone up then there must have been a re-evaluation of the production cost of the parts involved to justify the hike. When I got my Avenger, I remember thinking that the amount of detail in this hilt seemed higher than most, and how they could do that for the same price as some of the less intricate designs.

Hmm that's fair enough I guess.
I've no problem paying extra for something I know will be awesome. hopefully the increase stays limited to the Avenger

I believe the Avenger, and Grand Master are now in the same pricing tier. Only the Cross-Guard sabers occupy a higher tier. I don't own a Cross-Guard, or a Grand Master....yet, but when I look over my Avenger, and ask myself if I would have paid another $50 for it, the answer is an unqualified YES!

Another thing to keep in mind is that it seems like some hilts on the main site are now utilizing ASP parts as well (for instance, compare the switch section of MaceWindex's Venomous Fury to other posted ones). So I wouldn't be surprised if some hilt's prices where adjusted to reflect that (since ASP sabers are broken up into 4 pieces instead of 3, there's an extra set of threads, which adds to the machining cost).

Completely plausible. On subject of VF, there was also the comparison of the Emitter with Ryan-Rising's version versus Zeddicuus' (IIRC).
Also up to 5 pieces on Thin Necks. On that trend, it's quite possible the Trio of PS, Exalted and Redeemer may receive an upwards bump?

Looking at the pieces, it probably is a higher tier. If nothing else there is extra pieces (the black shroud and silver connectors for the shroud) over a normal saber.

The new price is in line with the cost of the ASP parts now ($185+$15 shims= $200). Looks like I squeaked by with my $150 Avenger initiate a coupla months ago  .

To put the price in perspective a Korbanth Ep1/2 Kenobi, which is a limited run, costs $225 empty so $199 for a Ep1/2 Kenobi isn't unreasonable.
