So I am considering getting a Hero Tier Prodigal Son, but I really don't want the multiple color changing thing in it, where you twist and it changes. I'd be dueling with it a lot and I really wouldn't want my saber switching colors mid fight, plus I'm getting that saber for the movie-ness of it, so I just want plain green. No switching colors, but I still want a white flash on clash and flashing on Lock Up. Is there a way to do this where I can just keep the Green color at all times, aside from flash on clash/lock, kind of like Vader's Vault? I'm new to "Lightsaber-ing" so I'm not entirely sure how it all works.

If it has the latest firmware, there's an option to only change color when you hold the button and twist it at the same time. That should help. The feature was added specifically to avoid accidental color changes during duels.
If it's not the latest, you can upgrade the firmware by dropping some files onto the SD card. Naigon's Spark Color 2 R2 announcement thread explains more, as does his web site. Basically, back up your card, add a couple files, and it should get the new firmware. So yes, you can configure it as you described. |

Oh, good! Does it automatically come like that when you buy a hero, or do you have to buy it, then update it yourself? And to do the white flash on clash, would I need for the second color option to be white?

If you are ordering a new hero saber from SF, I'm pretty sure we can trust SF to send it with the updated software already installed. If not, just follow ToyKeeper's instructions. it's pretty simple when you get to Naigon's website. As far as Flash on Clash is concerned, SF hero tier 12W+ LEDs come with 4 dies (4 LEDS). You can specify a combination of dies that you want in the comments (if you are ordering from the main SF site. If you order from the Etsy site, there is no customization aside from the options already provided). To get what you want (from the main SF site), you will want a Green/Green/Green/White LED. Also mention what you want the saber to do in the comments, "...so I just want plain green. No switching colors, but I still want a white flash on clash and flashing on Lock Up..." and most likely SF will configure the board the way you want it. If anyone else finds this incorrect, please chime it. |

For Hero tier, from the main store, you can only choose two colors (2 dedicated LED dies for each color choice). 4 dies to create 12W when all on.
I was told when I purchased my first SF saber a that something like a G/G/G/W setup is possible, but the order would have to be placed through the custom shop. That would result in a longer wait time. If you chose all green, it would be a full 12W strength, but would only flicker on clash. Might as well get a champion tier at that point unless changing sound fonts is really important to you. Hope that helps. Additionally you may want to keep in mind that by design, SF thin neck sabers such as the PS sacrifice some brightness due to LED placement being behind the neck portion. |

There's also the RGBA option as well, which can create any color combo that can be assigned to one of 9 color profiles. He could set the main blade to green, then set whatever color he wants for the clash, lockup, and blaster effects. Though he could also just choose green for one 6w color and white for the other, so he could have a green main blade and white effects. Also RitchellM, what you are describing with a G/G/G/W would require slightly different wiring than the standard 6w/6w/12w Hero, so that definitely wouldn't be just a "mention in the comments without paying extra" thing. And as far as I know they don't setup the board files and just use the stock settings. If he would prefer to have that extra die for the main blade, I'd ask SF before ordering. |
