Is there any new info on the new Sabercore 3.0? I was trying to look up any info I could find since it was announced mid last year. But everything I find leads to it having been pushed back due to the increased volume and the new ASP site. Anyone have any updates? What were some of the main features of the new soundboard? As I understand it, this was for the Champion tier sabers, it fit better in the hilts and it could be customized. What else could it do?

While there has been no announcement of a release date, the other feature that was teased was multi-font capability.
Imagine what you will know tomorrow....

There is no accuracy to the following, as it hasn't been officially announced by Saberforge.

It's likely perpetuated speculation, public opinion or non-current news.

This is what resulted in a late night internet search some time ago. Also stumbled across some written words about a possible R&D for an Infinity V5 (but that's another story)

Not having a Facebook Account, I saved an alleged link (on the pretence of using a friends login to verify but never eventuated) so cannot confirm if link is legitimate or accessible.

Scattered recollection was a Micro USB Port that enabled colour or sound changes and FoC for a single colour Champion Tier.

Andi-Jae EL, maybe this is just a repeat of the info you found?

Yeah that's part of what I found so far. It would be nice to have FoC in a champion tier.

Well it's definitely an actual post from Phillip Isherwood, made March 2015. At the time it looks as if Sabercore 3.0 was meant to release last summer. No knowing where it's at now. He also had this to add about it's features:
This board and battery will have a much longer lifespan, I'm hoping for 5 hours in our champion sabers. It has a micro usb port for changing settings or sounds, it will have flare on clash, BUT this is a single color champion board, not a hero board, so it only supports one color and no mixing.

The only thing with that would be one of the 4 dies in the 12w setup would have to be dedicated to FoC, so your main blade color would only be 9w (unless they come out with a 5-Cree), and that would mess up some of the color options like indigo which require 3 die of one color and one of another.

I personally prefer an extra intense flicker on clash (I'm not sure exactly what to call it), which is a feature on the Nano Biscotti board and I'm hoping that is what Phil meant when he said "flare on clash."

Skip to about the 8:40 mark in this video to see what I mean. It's one of Shameem's Graflex 2.0 installs with a SF 12w Artic Blue and and a Nano Biscotti.

Having a "flare on clash" would be a nice feature and enhance what the champion tier is. I would be happy with that.

FoC in a champion tier would be great. I want FoC in my Exile, but don't want all the other options/cost of the hero tier.

I asked about an expected release date in an email a few weeks back. The reply I received indicated no planned release window for Sabercore 3.0 at this time, only that it would be released sometime this year. I recently canceled an ETSY order I placed in January in order to wait for the new soundboard, as I have another saber coming in the meantime (Graflex from VV). I'm mainly interested in the potential for increased battery live and room for a second sound font. I would imagine the earliest it would see release would be late-fall/early summer, once ASP is up and running smoothly for the general public.

So watching Shameem's latest YouTube video he mentioned that he was commissioned by SaberForge to make a sound font for their new SaberCore 3.0 prototype boards that the company has just recieved and started testing! It will apparently have 3 sound banks and other undisclosed features!
Has anyone else heard anymore info on this? Was about to install a Spark 2 soundboard in my Exhalted but might hold off too see how the 3.0 board performs and costs!

These have been rumored since late last year, but we have not heard much about them since. Glad to hear things are still moving forward!

This is very exciting. I too might hold off on adding a Spark 2 in my ASP hilt to see how the new Sabercore iteration turns offers. I also wonder how it will affect ASP kits (if at all).

What little information we had back when all the hoopla started was that it would become the Champion level sound board. If that is still the intention (and we have no confirmation on this), it would supplant the current board used for ASP, and regular Champion sabers. My understanding is that it was supposed to be a much smaller board, so it should fit more easily in existing hilts, and perhaps allow for new designs to incorporate features that were not possible with the existing electronics package because of the space savings.

So, this next generation board will bring a lot of positive changes to future sabers if everything goes as we anticipate!

For a smaller board, with (from what we've heard) more features, what are the chances that the price for Champion hilts changes?

Yeah if I remember an old picture from one of the Facebook groups correctly, it was like circular with a micro USB port instead of a SD card. It will be interesting to see what changed and what was kept. Also, having to only keep stock of one board instead of two will be nice for them.

As for any price changes, the Champion tier did get a bump already, so it may not change, or if it does it may not be very big.

Wait, so the implication would be (and this is all conjecture and guessing based on heresy) that you could plug a cord into your saber and change fonts without having to pull an SD card? That would be VERY cool. No SD Card to come loose and you can plug straight into the saber.

Sounds nice. If it has USB, I'm happy as long as it presents itself as a generic storage device so it'll work with every OS. I especially hope it'll allow multiple custom fonts, include an option to go silent if it has a button pressed (or something) at boot time, and fix the high standby power of v2.

I look forward to hearing about it as details are revealed.

Personally I'd love to see flash on clash in the Champion Tier! The capability to alter the sound fonts would be nice too, but I doubt I would use it. The fact it supports only one saber colour is fine with me as well. if I want multicolour options, I'll upgrade to Hero.

I'm just hoping it won't up the price on the Champion Tier. As a Canadian, the currency exchange and possibility of customs fees hurts enough as it is haha.
