With my first saber on the way, I am curious as to whether or not each saber comes with a standard blade plug, and if the ones on the site are just upgrades, or if the blade plug must also be purchased. Is there anyone who could shed some insight on this?

Thanks!

Dunno what hilt you ordered but the apprentice hilts and bane come with the boring plug while the rest come with the detailed plug.

I tend to like/prefer the apprentice plug more than the "elite" level plug... I like the simplicity of the design and yet the aesthetic design it has. So I wouldn't call it "boring" personally... it also fits INSIDE the emitter, which is a plus. And it's also used on the Sorc, as with 6 claws it can be a pain to get the lipped elite plug in and out.

That aside, yes there are two types of blade plugs, depending on which hilt you ordered, you will get one or the other. The elite plugs do not work on the acolyte/disciple at all because of the slanted emitters; if you purchased one of those, it's a waste to buy an elite blade plug to put in them, as they won't fit. But you can purchase extra blade plugs on the site or through etsy if you have need of more of them... that's why they're listed. For spares/etc. They're the same models as what come included with your hilt purchase.

Hope this extra clarification helps. :)

Hi guys,

My exhalted doesn't have a blade plug.
I understood all thin neck sabers come without the plug.

Greets,

Oh. Totally forgot about thin necks, thanks for pointing that out. They do not come with blade plugs, as they don't fit without major trimming, lol. You can still make one work, just have to cut the tube down considerably.

I have a question. I purchased a spare blade plug and it's the weathered elite version. I purchased a weather Acolyte and I should have it next week. I understand the plug won't fit because of the slanted emitter, but if I Dremel the lip on the plug so it's smooth with the blade material, it should fit right? It's weathered so I'm not worried about messing the finish up with the Dremel.

Ya, it'll fit. The plug is press fit into the small piece of polycarbonate. You can use a punch and a hammer and some light hits will knock it out. Then you can cut off the outer ring. I've done it before. Then when you're done, press it back into place in the polycarb and away you go.
