I'm looking to reduce the length of my 37" blades without screwing them up for usage. If anybody has done it I'd love to hear feedback on how it went, difficulty, how well it came out, method etc. (You'd think I'd have learned my lesson and checked before buying my second 2 after getting the first but I'm an impatient impulse buyer lol)

(I'm based in the UK, so sending it back overseas to get it cut is going to kill me on postage, which is nearly the same price as the blade itself when buying a new one)

Many Thanks!

You can simply cut it to whatever length you would like :) I would suggest using a fine toothed hacksaw to cut through the polycarbonate, then a razor to cut the film inside... make sure you pull it out a centimeter or so to cut it a little shorter than the blade, and then you can use hot glue to re-attach the film in the tube, and maybe a little sandpaper on the edge of the blade if it comes out rough at all where you cut it. Some people suggest shears, but I've heard horror stories of them doing that and it crushes the tube, cracking it up the sides. :(

Yikes! Shears sound like a terrible idea lol

Thanks for the tip Knytiri :)

Any idea if it's possible to buy blade tips from anywhere?

Yep! If its a SF blade, you'll prolly need/want to get one of their threaded tips here, but TCSS also sells blade tips if it's not a SF blade you're needing a tip for.

What length are you planning on reducing it to?

I'm thinking somewhere between 26 and 32. Not entirely sure yet but open to suggestions! I may make them different lengths (I have 3 sabers currently) and try to find where my perfect length is

28-30 is the sweet spot for me. Not too long and not too short.
